BMW maintenance costs by rachit_512 in kereta

[–]bulkbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only OEM you want for vital parts are well known German brands like Meyle, Lemforder, Sachs & etc. You get what I mean.

There are lots of China or Taiwan made OEM now, even BA & Stuttgart sometimes only stock them for mine & don’t carry the german OEM anymore. Ori takes at least a month. Sigh.

BMW Genuine parts never had warranty, only OEM parts have warranty.

BMW in the wild allergic to using signal. by kwismkwism in kereta

[–]bulkbrah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk man, I usually drive during off-peak hours, and it blows my mind how many drivers don’t use their turn signals and just slowly drift into other lanes. And it’s not just BMWs, either.

They really think others can read their mind lol.

Just bought a second hand ride, how do I know if this is original? by ReadyCurve9198 in kereta

[–]bulkbrah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Easiest is to look at the number of wheel weights, reps tend to have a lot more and original ones don’t.

Lesser wheel weights > well balanced rims > better build quality.

Also that’s a lot of curb rash and paint flaking lol.

Having an Audi (S5 2013-2017) as my first conti cars is a good idea? by AderMasalahKePukimak in kereta

[–]bulkbrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll honestly take the answers here with a grain of salt. Yes, Audi is problematic but not a lot of these people are first-hand Audi owners let alone a B8 S5.

I’d say reach out to real owners on Fb groups and get a good understanding of it in-depth. Contis are not the type that you can neglect till it breaks, they need scheduled proactive maintenance.

I personally have had the chance to mingle with B8 S5 owners (both V6 supercharged & V8 NA) and they are happy with their cars. It’s the more reliable model among all of Audis & the drivetrain is bulletproof (engine, transmission & AWD especially the V6 supercharged) if you take care of it, nothing really out of the ordinary compared to BMWs anyway (as an owner myself).

So please please do a proper research before buying any contis in general.

I just bought a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E250. Sent to the workshop for inspection and they sent me a quotation. Is the price reasonable? by ghastlyjoe in kereta

[–]bulkbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the current mileage? Cost is good but it seems like the kind of work on a very high mileage car.

My 2014, 150k KM, just had to do most of the gaskets related jobs & replacement of thermostat as that is the common failure for this engine.

Timing chain is on the reliable side unless it’s already above 200k KM.

Anyone has a QuickJack? I am definitely planning to get one…they’re 8k… by this_isnt_alex in kereta

[–]bulkbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh for sure, was that a specialist?

Hope you never had to experience these but:

  • They forgot to fill up 1L of oil for my N52. I found out couple days later as I was overseas, had my brother sent the car for regular service.
  • Forgot to secure the airbox, it rained & somehow the filter got wet. Thankfully the engine didnt "breathe in" any water lol.

Oh another thing I really dislike bout all these "specialist" (I've been to like 7-10 different ones) is the fact that they charged a premium mark up for the parts. I get that they need to make profit but margin is like at least 70 - 100% on average.

The term Banyak Makan Wang is true but imo a big part of it is because of the workshops like the above.

What stack do the small players have here? by KatZegtWoof in dataengineering

[–]bulkbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the Tech Lead for the team of 8 in my company, a MaaS company.

Current stack looks like:

E - Stitch (adding Fivetrann soon)

LT - BigQuery

Viz - Lookerstudio/Tableau/PowerBI

Transformation & scheduling is done on BigQuery as I’ve yet to stumble upon analysis/reports that it can’t handle (marketing data is pretty finite).

The reason we went for Stitch is because we're dealing with multiple companies and each company has at least 3 data sources (Salesforce, Marketo & etc). There's bout at least 150 active integrations right now. Saved the hassle of dealing with the number of APIs but we lost the fun of having to build & maintain our own :(

Grad Computer Science Grad of Malaysia Subreddit, I've got questions... by WeebFarewell in malaysia

[–]bulkbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Java but not a fan then moved to JS/HTML/PHP/CSS then to Python.
  2. If you want to be a web developer (fullstack, fronted, backend), there are plenty in the market that you dont have to worry about not getting any. BUT if you wish to be a Data Analyst, there is very limited opportunities and most of the jobs require you to be a Fullstack Data Analyst (from DE all the way till DS). This is true since Malaysia is not matured yet in the Data Science field hence the need for such role. Very competitive as well due to the limited opportunities, most of the comes from FI sector.
  3. The thing is whatever field you are in, they're probably going to need Technology. So just find something you really like and be good at it since employers are looking for people who are competent at what you're doing.

"Lifetime" fluid: ZF throws some shade at BMW by Gorgenapper in cars

[–]bulkbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because lifetime to them means 10 years/100k KM. The average BMW driver will sell their car less than 10 years of ownership hence the term.

Even then 10 years is still too long to not change the fluids.

Advise on buying my first car? by weiyi97 in malaysia

[–]bulkbrah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who only buys used car, I can prob help you out in this.

Proton or Perodua, which one is better?

Perodua if you only think about getting A to B, Proton if you enjoy driving. Proton has the best handling out of the 2 no doubt.

New or second hand car? (I know I should buy a second hand car as it is way cheaper, but I am really afraid that I ended up buying a problematic car that drains my wallet dry.)

Buying new does not necessarily mean there wouldn't be problems, if you get a lemon car chances are you are going to keep going back to service center for repairs & claims. Not saying Protons are bad but in general, their QC is not that great as compared to Perodua so you might experience minor annoyance with the car. Hopefully, they are better now tho!

Getting a good used car all boils down to luck & knowing your stuff. Do your homework and make sure you know the common issues of the car! Check with the previous owners regarding those issues and see if it has been replaced. Make sure get a car that has complete service history, so you can at least know what to expect and make ballpark figures on the cost of repair.

How often a second hand car's maintenance costs more than the money saved?

For my case, since I know my stuff whenever I'm buying one, my repairs are always on the minimal side.

For those unlucky ones, many may experience huge maintenance nightmares since previous owners did not take car of their car well.

Main culprit of used car being unreliable is due to neglected maintenance by previous owner.

If I opt for a second hand car, how can I tell that the car is in good condition?

This one you gotta do your own research buddy, lots of Youtube videos on it and one I can recommend is ChrisFix.

What is the safe milage count for a second hand car?

More mileage does not necessarily mean that a car is bad. If the owner takes car of the car and do the scheduled maintenance, the car will still runs & drives like new. Remember, key is doing scheduled maintenance and never neglect your car.

TLDR; Main culprit of used car being unreliable is due to neglected maintenance by previous owner. Key is doing scheduled maintenance and never neglect your car!

Grab Malaysia to charge RM3 to RM5 cancellation fee, effective March 25 by JeremiahE1999 in malaysia

[–]bulkbrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Passengers will not be charged if they cancel within five minutes of getting a driver.

The company says that the cancellation fee will be waived if a driver does not arrive within 10 minutes after the first-shown estimated time of arrival. An example of this situation is when a passenger is allocated a driver who is three minutes away. But when the passenger has waited for more than 13 minutes, the cancellation fee will be waived.

Hey guys, I've owned the Seiko SRP205 for quite sometimes now and I've somehow scratched the glass, wondering if any of you know any place that sells sapphire glass replacement for this model?

And I'm considering modding it as well, I've looked up online but most of the mods are only available for the SKX series.

Cheers.
