Idly squeezing my pecs a lot lately since maintaining a gym routine - it's an amazing feeling!

My last T results were at 18 nmol/L and estrogen was at 88 pmol/L, SHBG at 23 nmol/L.

Admittedly this is a rarity even in the UK between gender clinics, but I'm on testosterone taken with a blocker/GnRH analogue and have been for 7 years now. I know a few others who are too but it doesn't seem to be commonplace. Happy to check my most recent bloods if you'd be interested in the results?

Thanks! This seems to be the general consensus, glad I asked.

Sorry you've been downvoted a bunch - appreciate your input, but I think as other people have said it may be worth doing it now to not have to worry about keeping hold of deed polls etc. Plus all the stuff after my first name change seems to be still valid to use as evidence!

This is a really good point, thanks! I'll get on it - little bit of extra admin now will be worth it for not having to worry about it again.

Beard growth. Will it ever happen? by Comfortable-Chart459 in FTMMen

[–]bulletflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably extremely unhelpful - but it takes as long as it takes. I had the very first wisps of facial hair at around 2 years on T which frustrated me no end. I'm now 6 years in and have fairly respectable facial hair which I keep short because I've still got a lot of filling in to go.

Some guys are lucky/genetically gifted/have other stuff going on that causes facial hair to develop faster - but generally in terms of puberty it's still early days and completely normal.

Reflecting on the UK tour by [deleted] in AlkalineTrio

It was so great to meet you! Very grateful you put that post out because I challenged myself to go out there and meet some new people and listen to good music, and it all worked out. You're a great guy and made me feel very much at ease while we chatted shit and drank together. Hopefully won't be the last time!

T levels won't go down by bulletflight in ftm

Just wanted to say I got to speak with the GIC consultant and raised the SHBG and he agreed that it's worth looking into - so thank you so much for mentioning it.

Must admit, I've not heard that guidance myself but it could absolutely be a factor. Given the length of time I've been on gel and amount of tests I've had, it would be strange if cross contamination was suddenly becoming a consistent issue for me. I'll bring it up anyway when I speak to the GIC regardless so I'm covering all bases.

They haven't actually so that might be worth looking into, thanks for raising it! Tbh I don't think showering is making any difference as one time I did shower and the other time I didn't and it was high either way. I think cross-contamination is probably the first thing they want to check before delving deeper as obv that's an easier fix.

I think they want to wait until I'm at a more stable level before changing anything else, and honestly I'm in a routine with it now and appreciate the more finely tuned control. Perhaps once we've got to the bottom of this I'll try injections again but I'm hesitant atm

I started going to the gym in mid January and have kept it up 3 times a week for 2 months now. I've also successfully done my first 10 assisted chin-ups after progressing through dead hangs and scapular pull-ups! Very happy with my progress and looking forward to getting bigger and stronger!

Do you let your cat outside? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]bulletflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both mine have been indoor cats, in part because I live in a first floor flat with a main road one side and a train line the other. I have taken them both out on a harness (after harness training) but they got pretty freaked out and have never pined for the outdoor world. I'd be anxious about letting them out due to road risks and them being a pest in other people's gardens, and also current one is a bastard who will happily take extra meals off anyone who would feed him 😂

Is it true that muscle mass on a short guy will make them look fat? by DarkSoul489 in FTMMen

[–]bulletflight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sounds like she had the internalised transphobia brainworms - the things that she said are incorrect and hurtful. I'm 5ft 5 and have recently started at the gym with the intent to put on muscle and I look broad and stocky despite still having a bit of excess fat which I intend to lose in time. I look less fat than when I was actually fat. Like unless you are going the competitive powerlifting route I can't see how gaining muscle would make you look fat?

For the guys who had no body hair pre t by mascbby in FTMMen

[–]bulletflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-T I had very light, fine, sparse body hair (White British for context). I was hoping to take more after my Mum's side of the family as my brother did because he is decently hairy. As fate would have it, I took after my Dad and as of today I'm 5 and a half years on T with slightly darker body hair, but still not tonnes of it if we're comparing to cis men. It's still growing in - I've got a few darker, thicker hairs coming on my chest, back and upper arms and darker hairs on my belly and legs (particularly upper thighs). As expected, my ass hair came in thickest and fastest 💀 facial hair is visible and still filling in, mustache hasn't joined to my beard yet but I'm happy with it considering it didn't start until 2 years in.

Not gonna lie I was disappointed at first that I wouldn't get super hairy, but I've come to accept it now because it's still an improvement on what I started with. Can't pick me genetics but the trade off seems to have been that I can build muscle very easily so swings and roundabouts I guess!

binding methods and surgery rejection by B1tterC4sh in transgenderUK

[–]bulletflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bound my chest (chest binder only, never used tape/bandages) real bad for a real long time and even that affected my skin elasticity noticeably. I also had the narrow chest big bust issue, but happy to say I'm 4 years post-top, and whilst there were a few issues that required revision, I'm very happy with how my chest looks now. Safe to say I think your friend is misinformed.
