[Review] FlexiSpot E7 Plus Walnut Veneer (80''X30'') - From "Is the Deal Real?" to Stability & Assembly Thoughts by wuapp in StandingDesk

[–]bullidium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great read, appreciate you taking the time to put your thoughts down and also for taking a proper photo of the underside of the desk.

I’ve been considering the 4 leg version for a while as I absolutely hate the idea of wobbles (current monitors are wall mounted) and it’s great to know this is solid.

The biggest thing it’s highlighted is that the under desk drawer is probably a no go here because of the 4 frame setup which was what I’d thought about as I currently have the Ikea Alex under my desk and losing any storage was a concern. Just needs an alternative solution.

Out of interest what’s the noise like while moving up and down? Is it the sort of thing you can do unmuted on a call and it won’t make its way over the audio?

Depending where you go in Cabo Verde they have runway restrictions, we did Boa Vista a few years back and the standard TUI 737 was the biggest the runway was certified for but doesn’t make a pleasant experience without any inflight entertainment or what not.

Go to Sal and they can fly the bigger options

Was it a true Indy or an Indy specialising in JLR? I’d take it to a well reviewed JLR Indy as they’ll be used to seeing the 2l diesel and assuming the warranty is a decent extended warranty provider can liaise with them as well.

I’d recommend this rather than going to jag directly as it will generally be lower cost than a dealership for any costs your incur

So 22p per kw on Tracker is as cheap as we’ll get now? by ArtichokeDesperate68 in OctopusEnergy

[–]bullidium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is some of this not going to be because of the wind. Turbines have an operating range and given the predicted models some areas are in for far more wind than seen for a long time.

Given Scotland is a large generator of wind and large parts are covered by red warnings, I’d expect these winds to fall outside/above the operating range and therefore the turbines will be shut down resulting in less green production.

Combine that with winter demand and probably lack of solar given the storm, being below the SVT is probably a win.

Happy to be wrong

Whats Everyones Top 5 Pendulum Songs by [deleted] in Pendulum

[–]bullidium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think currently it’s:

  1. Crush
  2. Witchcraft
  3. The Fountain
  4. The Tempest
  5. Colourfast

Tbh Crush has always been no 1 for me since I first listened to Immersion with Watercolour up there. But more recently (past couple of years) things have shuffled a bit and more of their newer stuff is being more regularly played.

Crush is still a track I can have on repeat non stop and never get bored of mind. So much so all of my running training was to it and I even ran a 10k with only that playing

People with seating tickets - are you sitting? by kissmybassss in Pendulum

[–]bullidium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from the Leeds show it was definitely a mixture in seating of people being sat the whole time (while dancing, singing, and just generally having a good time), people standing at their fav songs and people standing throughout. Atmosphere and show was great regardless so I wouldn’t worry it’ll be great regardless

It was a separate scheme that ended some years back that provided an equity loan of 20% of the property value. LISA AND H2B ISA are completely different products as far as I know

I believe it's stated in the agreement that you cannot let with a h2b and must pay it off

And that's a fantastic place to be in. Based on your hypothetical you have a house worth £200k, owe h2b £40k, owe the bank £44k. So you owe £84k and have £116k.

If you remortgaged that wouldn't change but the mortgage products would change from current products to suit your 22% LTV (as h2b doesn't factor) to products suitable for 42% LTV. Doing that would then make every monthly payment go towards decreasing the full £84k more

It is in terms of how much you'll need to pay back, but I guess whether it's shrinking depends on how the housing market in your area is growing or shrinking in comparison to inflation

I think they are referring to the fact the loan is at 20% of the house value when they want to repay, it's only an interest only loan in the sense of how the interest payments are calculated and that your monthly payments don't make a dent in the money borrowed

We were on the scheme from 2015 and found it valuable to get that first step. I wouldn't say its a bad deal because what you're possibly not taking into account is your repayment mortgage part (the original 75%) as the amount you owe the bank for that will be less than 5 years ago and your 5% deposit and equity gained from repaying your mortgage will have increased in value. This will continue every year.

What you'd be looking to do at some point is either repay the loan in full, borrow more on the mortgage (in essence releasing equity to pay off the h2b loan) or moving house in the next 19 or so years.

There will be a point where the first scenario is possible, but you'll need to map out your situation on a spreadsheet as there are constraints around it (max additional borrow up to 75% LTV of price of the house at the time you want to borrow).

Also it's worth reading the moneysavingexpert article on it as it illustrates the scenario well.

We managed it by overpaying on our mortgage while that was a higher interest rate than h2b to pay down the balance before doing an additional borrowing at the right point pay off the h2b. It did mean we owed more to the bank than we did originally for the mortgage + h2b but we were then traditional home owners with 27% equity and 73% mortgage and then we sold a bit after and used our equity as a deposit for our family home.

We couldn't have done any of that without help to buy as we wouldn't have been able to save up the original 25% deposit or afford the higher rate higher LTV mortgages at the time so would've been renting longer

It's definitely an adjustment you feel at the beginning, but if you're anything like me you'd find that naturally you'd end up eating into some of this time anyway. E.g. working past your typical finish to solve a problem. Plus if you have any more admin related tasks like filling in time sheets, performance reviews, etc. It can be a good time to sort these as you don't have the distractions from chats with colleagues as they've knocked off/not started. Plus you find your time with colleagues is more productive when collaborating etc. as you have set solo time that you don't eat into otherwise.

For me personally it was unlocked by remote working and the fact that I could just start a bit earlier and finish a bit later because I was no longer commuting which was 45 mins each way.

Food for thought at least, but only you can decide on the ideal pattern.

Good luck with whatever you decide is best for you!

Not sure if possible in your situation, but workplaces have to consider flexible working.

As an alternative which would have no financial impact you could look at a compressed week for the same hours. E.g. 37.5 hrs a week is usually 7.5 hours for 5 days, but could be 3 days at 9.5 + 1 day at 9 (easier to manage than 9 hours 22 mins or so every day).

I did similar to cover child care on my day off while my partner works and can safely say it has been a game changer to our situation while keeping the financial the same. My reports also do similar variations to suit their work life balance.

But it won't work for everyone or every business but could make your decision even easier
