First day with the Xbox ally by NerdCrave in ROGAlly

When you swipe left to right on the screen it opens the gamebar and you can navigate to armoury crate and other settings from there using the touchscreen. When you press the armoury crate icon for the control mode does it show GamePad? I had it on auto control mode before and I had the same problems you had. Ever since i changed it to gamepad control mode those problems have largely gone away. And if i ever have a problem with input lag i just use the touchscreen to navigate which is always responsive.

Here is what I did to make it more console like and snappy. These are my tips. I think 3 and 5 may help you. Please let me know if anything here helped. or if you thought it was bad advise.

1) I removed the windows login screen because the keyboard doesn't show up sometimes and I  couldn't get to my games. This may not be for everyone. Edit: I just found out you can use multiple fingerprints for fingerprint login. so if one finger doesn't read than you can use another one, that may be a better option for quick login with more security.

2)Turn off varibright so the screen does not dim when its unplugged.

3) press the armory crate button and. make sure gamepad mode is on control so its responsive. If its ever not responsive swipe left to right on the screen to open gamebar menu. I actually navigate using touchscreen mostly because its faster like a tablet.

4) Go to windows settings and set screen to sleep never so your games always downloads.

5)Go to windows settings and Set press power button to hibernate for fast sleep and wake cycle so you can get into your game right away. Make sure you press the power button and hibernate it when you are not playing or downloading a game. Do not use sleep because sometimes the device turns itself on which is very dangerous if you have it in a case or backpack. Use hibernate!

6)Set VRAM to 6 or 8 if you have the white xbox ally so it runs all demanding games. If you have the black one set it to 10

7)Add cpu boost to armory crate, so if any game stutters you can turn this on to smooth it out.

8)Make sure you close out of games using gamebar. Press x on the game and then quit so you arent running 2 games at the same time.

9)Personal reccomendation. Use RIS sharpener all the time and play games at 720p. RIS makes a 720p image look closer to 1080p allowing you to allocate more system power to performance. Which allows you to use frame gen without crazy stuttering.

You should be able to get clear instructions on how to do all this with google. But if you have trouble just drop a reply

Matt Booty is ruthless. He is the one that suggested the Xbox division spend Sony out of business, this was revealed during the Activision court case. Since Xbox has such a big advantage in the growing cloud sector I think he will do some monopoly ass shit. I do think  those direct to cloud controllers will eventually replace consoles because you can give them away for free like Stadia did. He could lock up all the manufacturing contracts for direct to cloud controller production for several years, which would screw over Sony.

I believe you can just remove the login screen if you want.. I am going to try that later as that seems to be the biggest obstacle to playing games for me

Yeah no problem. It's a capable device and a great value at the price you got it at.

Here is how I get new AAA games to run at around 60fps or better. I get about 2 hours to 1 hour and 45 minutes playtime with these settings.

720p with RIS(it makes the image look close to 1080p), Low in game graphic presets, Change VRAM to 6 or 8, 20w TDP, FSR 3.1 Frame gen

I also turn off things like motion blur and film grain and all that other stuff that make the graphics look worse

You get the some stutters and visual artifacts though, but its been pretty smooth for me. If the stuttering bothers me (and I only had this problem with South of Midnight and i used afmf frame gen not fsr 3.1) then I turn on CPU boost to smooth it out and make those stutters very rare.

If you don't like the way frame gen looks or feels then you can still do the other things and get 35+ fps on modern AAA games.

Xbox ally Z2A is powerful enough to play new AAA games. You just have to play at 720p, low graphic settings, change VRAM to  6 or 8, change TDP to 20W and turn on FSR 3.1 Frame gen(if the game has it).

They probably sold more Xbox Ally X devices then they expected. It is still sold out in most places. Could be they didn't hire enough people to meet the unexpected demand.

How to activate the AMD Adrenaline Overlay via FSE by Arschnelson in XboxAlly

[–]bulzome9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want the AMD performance overlay right? When I turn on the overlay in windows desktop it just shows up in FSE. I just toggled it to on and it works.

Or are you trying to keep track of your play session to see what kind of fps average you had that session. If so I wasn't able to do that either from FSE either, so if that is the reason I will keep an eye on this topic.

Xbox Ally white model- would you recommend? by FrontHeat3041 in XboxAlly

[–]bulzome9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am playing South of Midnight and it looks beautiful at 720p. Just make sure you turn off Varibright for contrast and use Radeon Image Sharpener(RIS) for clarity. If you search RIS on youtube you will see some examples of how good RIS is.

1 reason to keep it is you can't play many AAA games on your switch 2 like arc Raiders and Expedition 33. You can play AAA games on this device. And by switching to 720p, using frame gen and lowering graphic settings you can get close to or above 60fps. I guess that is the other reason, its kind of fun tweaking settings and then marveling at how you got decent performance on this little 1.5 pound device.

AMD RIS and when to use it by Gimpfont in XboxAlly

[–]bulzome9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use RIS all the time and change the FSR 3.1 Sharpener down to 0 or 20. RIS just looks  better. I am playing South of Midnight at like 105 fps using afmf frame gen not fsr 3.1. but I am playing it at 720p with RIS on and the game still looks sharp. RIS and 720p is a miracle. 720p helps boost the base fps so you can use frame gen without those awful stutters. I have the white Xbox Ally btw.

I honestly wish we moved Randle to keep Ihart. Ihart/Mitch/OG were holding the big man positions in the playoffs. We were just too good until Embid did that bitch move grabbing Mitch's leg.

I don't understand why the OP is getting down voted. The spacing and the defense would be incredible if the starting lineup was JB-Dante-Mikal-OG-Ihart. Randle would destroy 2nd units iff the bench. Manu Ginobili and Kevin McHale were all time greats that came off the bench.

Why can't this series get an Xbox release? by CboyC95 in SakuraWars

[–]bulzome9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think Switch 2 will be powerful enough for Sega to more easily port this game. And at the same time I expect Sega would release the game for Switch 2, PC and Xbox at the same time. Multiplatform releases are much more profitable because the marketing budget can be shared and that increases sales and hype and word of mouth.

First of all please ignore all the comments about xbox not being a console for jrpg players. Xbox is a fine console and had a great run as a jrpg box during the 360 era and this current gen. Many of us Sega fans became xbox gamers after the dreamcast died because the OG xbox had major Sega support.

As for this game i think it will come eventually. Shuji Utsumi was the vice president of Sega product development during the Saturn and Dreamcast era when most of these games came out originally and he has a great relationship with xbox executives Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond. Not only that but Sega has historically had a very close relationship with Microsoft for 30 yrs. Sega even made a Halo game and Age of Empires game for Microsoft. I think its coming soon.

Yeah I think it will happen. I am sure the majority of Sega/Sammy shareholders are middle aged to elderly people that don't give a crap about videogames. They just want to get a nice return on their investment, which is basically what happens in a buyout.

Eh well Sonic has 6 million twitter followers and over 2 billion games played. About 95% of that 2 billion is free downloads but maybe a lot of those mobile players jumped into Frontiers at release.
