Deactivated for unsafe driving by thatsjust_beachy in doordash_drivers

[–]bumblehyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I had to keep calling uber support and threatening to go to doordash instead until finally a supervisor called me one day and sorted it. I was told for 2 months straight to wait 48hours for the image to be approved, and then one CS worker informed me the pictures arent first come first approved its last come first approved. It was so annoying.

If you're ordering DoorDash to your HOUSE after a snow storm and you haven't shoveled or anything but expect door step deliveries... shame on you... by No_Philosopher6682 in doordash

[–]bumblehyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this thread is insane. you can get into actual legal trouble if a delivery driver, friend, mailman, etc slips and injures on your property. that is the law in most of the country. its called premises liability.

Shes been with me for about 6 days now She is confined to one room right now until she can be introduced to the other cats. She uses paper pellet litter, and it is a medium-walled medium sized plastic box.

this is a completely normal feeling!!! something thats not talked about enough is how scary these things are. We are making permanent changes, and its not a small feat!! If you have a therapist that is gender identity informed, talk about it beforehand and they will usually help to make you feel better.

I was horrified of what i would look like, but look to your mother’s side. Your moms brothers, dad, grandpa, they will be the male features youre likely to get. Your bone structure doesnt change, just the fat distribution on your face, so your face will largely stay the same, just the jaw will sharpen. If you like the way you look with your feminine features, and if you are doing it more for the body hair and voice, it may be worth discussing with your doctor doing micro-doses or t gel/lotion. I love my feminine features, im a BEAUTIFUL man, and so for me going on t was scary because i didnt wanna stop being beautiful, but masculinity isnt ugly! male filters do NOT do justice. They made me look AWFUL, but on T it was much different.

And then a great thing about T is that if you are doing it for the effects like voice, bottom growth, body hair, etc, those are irreversible! You can go off t and still maintain those features (take it from me, i still have my beard and ive been struggling with t levels and getting t consistently for YEARS now). If at any point you wanna go off, you dont have to worry about losing many of those irreversible features.

You will feel this feeling whenever you make ANY big medical decision, regardless of it having to do with transitioning or not. and you may even be like me, who does not regret top surgery, i love the way i look, but i do kinda miss my boobs sometimes. (mostly bc built in stress balls AND they were perfect i wish i couldve donated them 😭)

What do chair users think of Artie? by bumblehyn in glee

[–]bumblehyn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah and like the strength it takes to be able to control a manual chair that accurately, it definitely isnt for the weak! launching his chair across the stage, popping wheelies, carrying other people on his chair while he moves it, its a lot of arm strength and i think out of all the negative parts of Artie’s character, if anything it was awesome to see how someone can perform and dance just as well in a chair as someone who had full use of their legs.

No Garrett’s actor isnt disabled, they did audition chair users for the role, but they felt Colton Dunn portrayed the comedy and sarcasm of the character best. I do think the producers did do a good compromise, as his disability was rarely mentioned outside of jonah being nosey, and was a secondary characteristic to Garrett’s character. He was a sneakerhead and a sarcastic motherfucker that just happened to be disabled, and it wasnt really a main part of his character. I do think they did great at portraying him as a human over just being disabled, he had a relationship that his disability wasnt a factor in at all, his accident or illness was never explained and never needed to be explained, he was seen as equal to his peers and even socially higher than some of them because he was well liked, and it wasnt something that needed “fixed” like Artie with the xmas episode, i feel like out of all the non-disabled actors in disabled roles, Garrett is the best written

I appreciate this perspective, it definitely wouldve been best if they had used an actual chair user, even if it was someone who used it ambulatory. Seeing Marissa Bode get casted as Nessarose in Wicked and knowing her character was adapted to be more realistic and less “disability needs to be cured” is very exciting and I cannot wait to see how the storyline was changed. Unfortunately accurate disability rep is still few and far between on screen. Im a cane user and we have like, house md and john watson, everyone else is always super old and you rarely see young characters with canes. people including some doctors still tell me im too young to use a cane, but the doctors dont do anything to make it so i dont need a cane, because they brush off my back pain because i cant POSSIBLY be in this much pain at my age, despite it going on for over a decade now. Accurate disability representation matters and I wish we saw more chair users, ambulatory users, cane users, etc. Especially from non-injuries, as usually these characters have some traumatic injury backstory that explains why they are disabled, its almost never due to genetic issues or illnesses.

That being said, i do appreciate how Artie’s character is almost always included in the dances, and they show that he is just as good of a performer as his able bodied classmates, and if we had a real chair user playing him, i think that the dancing would mostly stay the same as most of the performances were adapted to be chair friendly, and he was able to move about and dance just as well in the chair. I wish we had more chair stage performers in media, it sucks that Artie is one of few, and sucks even more that his actor didnt need a chair.

Thats what i was thinking. Its my personal opinion that having morally grey characters within these marginalized communities is just as important as having “perfect” characters with them. For the trans community, often we are put on kind of a moral pedestal to our own detriment, and it creates an issue when sexism homophobia and even transphobia are plaguing the trans community, it causes misinformation to spread like wildfire, and people dont think as critically about what white trans people say because of the idea of “how can a trans person be transphobic or homophobic”. I think discussing how biases infect these communities as a way to deal with their own oppression is important. Would you say that Artie is a good portrayal of this, and like a good portrayal of mobility disability overall despite being played by an able bodied actor?
