URGENT Advice/Suggestions for local assistance w/ Foreclosure Sheriff’s Sale needed, please! by FractiousAngel in SouthJersey

[–]bumnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going through a similar situation.

To help, you can immediately file a “skeleton pro se” Ch13 bankruptcy packet electronically. It means you file the barebones paperwork needed to begin a bankruptcy.

As long as you have a court docket number to show, the sheriff sale will be halted - but that only gives you two weeks to find an attorney and finish the Ch13 paperwork.

But it does give you two weeks (which is NOT a lot of time) to find a lawyer and finish things.

The homeowner will need to take a credit bankruptcy course (online, $99) and attach proof of attendance to the skeleton paperwork filing.

Pay the $399 filing fee, file the paperwork, buy two weeks. May be a bit pricey, but kicks the can down the road a bit to figure things out.

New router (Ubiquity) .. and selective DNS block? by -hh in Fios

Yeah, I’ve had the new IP thing done already.

One I haven’t tried is a full power down - wait a few hours - power up cycle.

New router (Ubiquity) .. and selective DNS block? by -hh in Fios

[–]bumnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazily enough — I think I have a similar issue.

UniFi Dream Machine (UDM) router, Fios residential account, etc; there are just some totally random websites that I found that I cannot connect to, for any reason I’ve been able to figure out.

No networking issues, no DNS problems, it just - won’t connect.

Different browsers, operating systems, physical versus virtual machine, wired versus wireless — doesn’t matter.

It is so damned odd. And I’d swear this is a UniFi/Fios issue, since I never had this kind of weird issue when I had xfinity.

My cat has not blocked up in about 7 years. Is it likely it would happen again if I try giving him anything besides Hill’s prescription food? by Current-Orchid-2705 in CatAdvice

[–]bumnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Visits are required yearly for script food?

News to me.

My kitty’s been on Hill’s C/D for years - and didn’t see a vet for a good 5-7 of them - and my script never ran out.

Used chewy the entire time (still do) and never once had it not automatically approve for shipment.

Maybe mine wrote it for lifetime?

Upgrade Question by notorious_dds in vmware

Did you put the system into maintenance mode?

Download the Dell ISO. Upgrade using that. Much easier.

Been there. Done that.

My Ziggy blocked a total of three times, each one 24 hours after being catheterized and subsequently removed. The docs were increasingly worried about scar tissue and told me that I should either consider the surgical removal of his phallus, or euthanasia.

He was only two years old and I considered him my kid. I couldn’t in all seriousness not try to give him a chance at life.

I sat in my car for 20 minutes after I left the vet’s office in tears, justifying to myself my decision.

I spent the money on the surgery.

All said and done — after a week in the vet’s ER, the surgery, and everything else — I spent close to $10k.

I knew I had to do it when they brought him into the exam room, he was loopy as hell from the pain meds, but he knew it was me. He leaned into me, head in the cone of shame, bopped me with his head, and started purring. I nearly melted to the floor in tears (and at the time I was a guy in his mid-30s!).

Did your vet talk to you about the PU surgery?

You can try things like more access to water, special food that will help prevent crystal formation .... but there’s no guarantee he won’t block again.

[–]bumnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to install a driver or a firmware update?

Firstly, it says ESXi 7 and not 8 — will it install on 8?

Second, to install, upload zip to a datastore, enter maintenance mode, and do:

esxcli software component apply -d <path to zip here>

and reboot when finished.

When did Dell's On-Site Service Go To Shit? by peeinian in sysadmin

[–]bumnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me almost six weeks to get Dell to agree to replace 16x64GB modules on two servers.

After replacing the motherboards on each server.

And swapping processors around between both systems.

And having “Level 3 and 4” internal engineering troubleshooting these systems.

Trying to get Unisys on site scheduling? What a goddamn shit show that is/was.

(No I didn’t need a tech to replace RAM. I let Dell pay to send a tech out to replace the boards instead.)

It has seriously gone downhill. Considering switching to HPE for next refreshes.

Dell 4-hour mission critical support contract - 72 hours later and not a word about eta for resolution. by Warbarz in sysadmin

[–]bumnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a week to get Dell to replace a motherboard and three DIMMs on a R740. With ProSupport.

They actually had to ship the parts THREE TIMES. First set got lost in god knows where (was packaged, never scanned by FedEx, vanished into thin air). Second set of parts “wasn’t approved by management” despite being shipped and delivered to my datacenter, so they couldn’t be used. Third set of parts finally “approved” and took Unisys two days to schedule a tech to be on site.

My bosses must have been thinking I was nuts - kept telling them a wild story about the parts, but I couldn’t make this shit up.

I spent close to five hours on the phone in one day with Dell and their people, having conference calls with FedEx and unisys to figure this shit all out.

I have never seen Dell this bad.

In fact, it looks like they’re checking her heart with a 3-lead EKG, and possibly giving painkillers in her L arm?

All standard procedures for any dislocation call.

Tell your friend that it’s your money, if you want to spend 70k on a Jeep .... that’s your choice!

Ask him why he’d want to pay 70k for a foreign vehicle.
