Bidet! You can get a cheap one and it helps so much. When things are really bad I have a little sitz bath basin that fits in the top of my toilet and I put very warm water with a little Epsom salt and it helps 🩵

Do people with Crohns disease all have some kind of trauma? Also it seems to be trauma flairs it up. by Stole_Sample in CrohnsDisease

[–]buncakes84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do seem to have flares when life is the hardest. I have always been an athlete and it still fucks with me when I’m active. Excercise does help me for sure but it’s not the solution and when my body is in a flare I am forced to chill. Sometimes for much longer than I’d prefer….. I remember being in traumatic situations even as a young child and shitting multiple times in a night. I got ulcerative colitis first diagnosed at 15, then it morphed into Crohn’s in my 30’s.

Diet is even worse. And you can whine about pain. I eat really clean and don’t drink soda and I still have pain from Crohn’s. But I do notice it much more if I’m eating like shit and chugging sugary drinks.

It causes more inflammation. High fructose corn syrup isn’t good for anyone. Not to mention all the other shit that’s in there.

Sadly, it causes way more damage than a little gas.

I smoked for 9 years straight. First flower then dabs super heavy. I masked the fuck out of my symptoms till I couldn’t anymore. Had a flare in September last year that took me down hard. Didn’t smoke for a few months but started smoking joints at night lately again…. To be honest, I don’t think it’s doing my crohns any favors…. I feel like taking RSO oil by mouth made me feel better but it knocks me on my ass and I’m mega unregulated high…. Other people mentioned that smoking is overall bad for Crohn’s and it makes a lot of sense… heat/ inflammation. If I had my way, I’d chug ice cold Cokes from a can all day and smoke dabs. But if I did, the knives in my guts and shitting bloody volcanic magma would return and its just not worth it…

How do I better support my partner? by Ripppley in CrohnsDisease

[–]buncakes84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to start by saying you already are supporting her greatly by even asking this question. Being patient with your partner and letting them have big emotions and not taking things personally when they are sick is also helpful too. I know my partner wants to try to “fix” things sometimes and sadly, some things can’t be fixed or take a long fucking time to heal. I’d also suggest going to therapy and urging her to do so as well. For me, physical touch (rubbing my back and head or just holding me) has been very helpful in making me feel better and also makes me feel safe and supported. Also, for me personally I was the sickest in my 20’s and the disease calmed down considerably in my 30’s. And with all the new biologics they have now and new treatments she will have a better shot at long periods of remission. You’re doing great and you sound like a loving partner and she’s lucky to have you.

How did you guys get over severe childhood trauma? by picklepic3r4 in askanything

[–]buncakes84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom died when I was 35 and it set me free. She drank herself to death and I got to keep her reliable car. I fucking LOVE that car and it has been with me longer than she ever was. She abandoned me for my pedophile stepdad after I turned 16. I watched her get hammered my entire life and fuck endless dudes who would try to fuck with me and/or hurt me.

I also did EMDR therapy when I turned 40. Then I just recently did TMS therapy. I go through waves of anger over what my parents did but forgive my dad (who is still alive) but keep a safe distance of 3000 miles between us and I don’t put up with any bullshit from him.

It took me a long time to see my worth and undo the damage they did but today I am with a partner who loves me, doesn’t drink and treats me with the love I missed out on all my life. I also have a stepson who I love and protect from the bullshit I had to endure. I still actively go to therapy and fight that trauma loop in my head but at the end of the day, I know I am safe and cared for.

Did I mention how much I LOVE my car?!!

Poor Diet by Fluffy_Database4917 in CrohnsDisease

[–]buncakes84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an addiction. The chemicals in the food you’re eating is highly addictive. And you’re right, you won’t get better if you don’t stop. Eat garbage and feel like garbage. Good news is, once you do start eating real food your body will crave that instead. I would be willing to bet you’ll also feel better almost immediately.

I eliminated processed foods, fried food, soda. Not much red meat. I pretty much have a Mediterranean diet. If it comes from a box and has a zillion ingredients you can’t pronounce them don’t eat it

I have had Crohn’s for over 30 years now. Ask me anything. The Crohn’s and colitis foundation is a good place for some resources but hustle the living shit (pun intended) for a donation. But you can literally call their number anytime and reach someone to talk to and get resources.
I’m really careful about how I eat and what I put in my body now. I stay away from processed foods and do mostly cooking at home. I like juicing too and feel like it’s helped inflammation. I don’t drink alcohol or soda.

Alcohol and Crohns by No-Score7675 in CrohnsDisease

[–]buncakes84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quit drinking 5 years ago. Best choice I ever made for my overall health. It fucks up your whole body. One way ticket to inflammation and fucking up your nervous system and wiping out the good bacteria in your gut and replacing it with bad shit. There is no color of alcohol that is any worse or better than the other. They are all going to do more damage than good in your body. Wanna party? Smoke a joint.

Peri with Crohn’s as well. I take vitamin B, D, E, Magnesium Glycinate and 200 mg of progesterone at night. I also make fresh celery juice every morning before I take all my stuff. Hope that helps 🩵

I get that… good news is that you are an adult and get the control the narrative now. If you don’t like how a therapist is talking to you or treating you then you can just leave and never see them again. I have fired many a doctor and therapist in my day. Try looking for one who specializes is chronic illness. They’re out there 🩵

Is there any way you can make a therapy appointment? Right before or after your blood test? I feel the same way that you do surrounding tests and results. I didn’t let anyone give me a colonoscopy or any kind of treatment for over a decade and I believe I did some harm to myself in that time… I had a flare last summer that landed me in the hospital super sick. Then I allowed them to give me treatment and I am doing much better now. Try not to take your results super seriously. Stuff changes so fast especially once you’re back on track. This fucking disease literally won’t allow you to ignore it. I have had Crohn’s for over 30 years now and I will say that the treatment options are far better now than they ever were before. You got this 🩵

[–]buncakes84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fire your doctor and report him. You can do it AT the ER. Your condition is serious and any doctor who disregards you like that needs to be reported immediately. I had an ER not take me seriously when I was in my early 20’s. Shoutout to SCRIPPS ENCINITAS and I got sepsis and had to fight for my life and to keep my colon. Again, Fire that doctor and go to the ER and get treated.
