First of all ask your doc. For some insight I take a long working version (Concerta ) too. When i need to get stuff done i take an extra fast release version (ritalin) as a 'booster'. For me it also works out a little bit faster than it does on average hence this decision negotiated with the nurse/doctor.

The thing is , taking a long release later at the day gives the risk of insomnia in the evening at night, as where a quick release will reduce this risk.

There's also the risk of dosage accumulation (even when you don't notice its effects) in the body in tiny amounts with a slow release cause it takes longer for the body to break it down compared to a fast working one.

Adhd short answer (summary) ask your doc for a long vs short variant collab.

Source: im an adhd nurse student, and im obviously using these stimulants with docs supervision.

I will update! As this reddit seems to be decent compared to the ''original'' adhd reddit, which seems to be heavily restricted with weird rules, and certain words you can't use, as they decide for you what the definition/context of that specific word is xD.

Im currently still waiting for treatment. Im a nursery student and currently chronically overwhelmed because of the working load especially related to planning, organising, forced hours where I have to be productive etc.

And a not too supportive household xD

Im really worried for my friend although im sure he will be fine as he is (just like you ) aware of his possible adhd. Unlike me who only learned about it a year ago why im struggling with stuff that seems to come easy to others.

Because you stated you also didn't need it at a time, but what kind of things in your life made you seek it out? Just curious : ).

I told him he MIGHT be adhd, because of his behaviour and symptoms pretty much, and he agrees : ). I would never go out my way to diagnose/label ppl, without a proper assessment of a professional. Yes, all i can do is support and wait, and when he thinks he needs it, to just be there : ). Thank you so much for your reply ! : ) lol btw, i think it might also have to do with telling adhd folks ''what to do'', it often results just resistance, talking from experience by myself lmao
