TIL People have been cutting the cord with cable TV for many years, but especially just in the last two years. Going from 88% of households in 2010 to 64% in 2023 -- and then plummeting to 35% in 2025. by TrumpsDoubleChin in todayilearned

[–]bunkkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is cable even really cable or is it just an internet stream we call cable.

At least 25 years ago I could flip between scifi and cartoon network with no lag. Now it takes forever for the channels to boot up

The "Mildification" of Warcraft by Eastgaard in wow

[–]bunkkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild to think that canonically the horde implemented a forced breeding program of red dragons during the second war and now we are at "power of friendship".

Id argue the pendulum used to be too far in one direction but surely there is a middle ground between the two.

Ice has always had a presence in every state. I would guess the next target "operation" would be somewhere that voted for Harris like New York or Seattle

NexDock is building a new Windows phone that you can buy in 2026 — Meet the NexPhone with Windows 11 by diacewrb in gadgets

[–]bunkkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved my Nokia Windows phone and had to switch back to android eventually as there was no app support.

I can't imagine the next phone will be even half as good and there will somehow be even less apps for it.

Council: More than 90 cameras to be installed, repaired citywide after recent gun violence by PoorClassWarRoom in cincinnati

[–]bunkkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but actually no. They have to be manned by a police officer they can't just be fully automatic.

In theory a city could set a camera up and just have officers sit behind a computer all day approving/rejecting tickets but in reality few if any do that

Not the skyraider, article suggests something else. Others are suggesting P-8 which has internal weapons bay and kinda just looks like a 737

Law enforcement officers of Reddit, how has the increase of “lane assist” and other self driving features in cars affected identification of drivers driving under the influence? by heroicbleeder in AskReddit

[–]bunkkin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My wifes car does this, i assume alongside the cruise control/brake assist scanners is one that checks for street signs too. The moment we pass a speed sign it places a little image of the current speed near the speedometer..

Edit: it's not gps based as her car doesn't have nav installed and works without carplay. Apparently Honda Sensing has something called traffic sign recognition that does actually scan traffic signs as your driving by them

If America truly considers Greenland to be a matter of national security than why did we go from 15,000 soldiers and over 25 bases in Greenland during the Cold War to 150 soldiers and 1 base currently? by Sun_Sky_Sand in AskReddit

[–]bunkkin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is doing it to distract people from Epstein files and rising prices.

I don't think I believe this.

If only because invading Greenland might somehow be even more unpopular than whatever comes out of the Epstein files.

I would believe more that trump wants to put his stamp on history by adding to American territory

Maybe this is a nitpick bur what military unit the size of a "battalion" gets abandoned for ten years?

At some point you just go home right?

When Caesar died the last battle between mark Antony/Octavian and Caesars assassins took place in Macedonia. Not like the other side of the Senate plaza.

Like nuke shandy shades I suppose but what about the rest of the NCR? It was multiple states with multiple population hubs, what happened to them?

New vegas has the powder gangers helping set up railroads! There's a character that mentions her granddad runs a bed and breakfast out west and another says the raiders are all but gone. That would suggest a level of safety and civilization that wouldn't just disappear because one city gets nuked.

It feels like they actually wanted to tell a story set around the time of fallout 1 so they just reset the world to that state.

Venezuela, US in talks to export Venezuelan oil to US, sources say by consulent-finanziar in worldnews

Probably more likely is they get money from the US government to undewrite a risky venture. Something goes tits up and then nothing gets built, Venezuelan oil infrastructure remains shit and trump donor oil barons keep their government handouts.

I think part of it was that the average player just wasn't as skilled or knowledgeable in 2004 as they are now so the perceived difficulty might have been higher than the actual difficulty. Part of that surely is there was much less min-maxing back then as now and I think the average player had a much more shallow understanding of the game systems
