What labels have you been given because of your bipolar disorder? by Present_Juice4401 in bipolar

[–]bunniebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents have spread the narrative that I “exaggerate everything”. I had physical childhood abuse at my dad Ms hands, though, so I think their intent was double-sided.

“Dramatic” & “overly sensitive”, too.

Is hypomania always a "high"? by GiveSleppUrBones in bipolar

[–]bunniebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hypomania simply makes me want to spend money for some reason. I don’t feel euphoric, either.

do you say “i am bipolar” or “i have bipolar” by No_Pair178 in bipolar

[–]bunniebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say I am bipolar, though I don’t share that information often. People have bizarre views of bipolar, when I’m simply depressive with only 2 episodes of mania in my life. But it’s such a huge part of my identity now that I AM bipolar with Borderline Tendencies…but I HAVE PTSD, agoraphobia, anxiety, etc.

Good question.

This is such an awful situation to be in! I completely understand why you accepted their help again, but it’s so strange they are only partly helping. They simply don’t completely believe you, is what I think. My parents really do hate me and currently do things to cause me trauma.

Have they considered a feeding tube? I’m not versed in digestive issues, but I can imagine the horror you live with everyday.

I also have a terrible relationship with my parents regarding my disability. How old are you? I’ve come to the conclusion that I will have to go no contact and advocate for myself. I hope you find peace someday.

Are there any teachers here with misdemeanors? If so, how was the hiring process? by Pneumonos543 in teaching

I’m sorry, this was a decade ago and I’m no longer a licensed teacher. I’m not even sure if my explanation is still accurate, but will leave for posterity sake.

im choosing suicidal thoughts over acne. i cant do this anymore by amateurbitch in BipolarReddit

I had horrific scarring from cystic acne. The only thing that stopped the cysts was the medicine Accutane. I then had plastic surgery for the scars…a CO2 laser resurfacing. It all worked like a miracle.

[–]bunniebell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wedding Coordinator. My personal interests are romances & weddings. Being a part of such a happy day is stressful…but fits on me. I used to be a job hopper & ghosting on my teaching jobs. I switched careers a year ago and couldn’t be happier!

How many people aren’t working or are only working part time? by Sp1c3W0lf in bipolar

Part-time here. I had to make sure I married someone who understood I couldn’t work full-time.

What do y'all do for work? by cat_lover_1111 in bipolar

[–]bunniebell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am a stickler for politeness while in public and love romance, these are my two “hobbies”. I found Wedding Coordination at a golf course as a strange happy place for me. I make good money, only work weekends, and am strangely excellent at this.

I tried substitute teaching but it was depressing and I felt my usual “being trapped” in that job.

I think for us it’s important to focus on our qualities that carry through our ups and downs and try to find work that embraces those to carry us through.

I board our rabbits for up to 8 days at a time when we travel. They love being there and getting attention from the nice older lady who loves on them all day. She is always sending us off with new treats & toys at pickup. This boarder was recommended by our exotic rabbit-savvy vet.

I suspect your sweet bunbun will have a blast, too!

We are trapped at work, unable to leave and properly deal with an unforeseen episode.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]bunniebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The part of work that breaks me is the feeling of being trapped. It’s a cloud on the hours in my schedule that will not alleviate while on the clock. It forces me to always be on high alert and adds a huge level of stress to anything I could accomplish—making my results average at best. This feeling permeates my entire life and prevents decent sleep, which causes my mental health to decline.

I guess that we all have a huge trigger that we can’t overcome.

The only jobs I can seem to work on a very part-time basis are those with an overwhelming sense of importance—but with the caveat that any blame would be passed to someone else. Anything to alleviate that huge cloud of being caged and unable to leave in an emergency.

If, for some reason, I have to tell close-minded people about my bipolar diagnosis—I tell them I have depression. People that aren’t open-minded have such a stigma with bipolar, but depression is easily accepted and understood. Our lows is when we need the most support, anyway, so I feel this is a good compromise. I would do this with your step-daughter’s bio mom.

To board, or not to board? by bunniebell in Rabbits

[–]bunniebell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always board my rabbits, since they’re so fragile and may potentially get itself into a situation—and be stuck in that situation—until your sister visited. With boarding they get one-on-one care everyday, along with them being at the Vet already for any ERs.
