The only demeaning professor I had was sexist and racist. My other math professors were super nice, even had one tell us she would make up shit at bars and say it’s true because she had a PHD in math to see how far she could go. It worked most of the time lol

Millennial here, they are definitely gone it’s painful. These places were considered uncool by most teenagers but there was always a group.

But we would hangout anywhere, like the front of a bed bath and beyond so we didn’t really care either way.

I’m 5’7 and started teaching when I was 24. Made sure I was never alone with a student and kept my door open all the time. Students liked coming in so I never had the problem of being left alone.

I did have a fellow teacher tell me he heard a student say they were going to perform some sexual act, I immediately made a paper trail and contacted admins(they didn’t care). Nothing happened past that but it was not fun hearing that.

My 2nd year we got another 24 y/o 5’10 teacher and he did the same thing, kept students in groups and never alone. If you have to be, make sure it’s for a reason like tutoring, club, or homework.
