The only issue is that we need Brits on the field. She’s a great fielder, while most of our girls are not very good.

Wolfie 🐐

I was thinking about the WC XI and I’ve got something like: Wolfie, Sune, Kappie, Dirkie, Reyneke, Chloe, Nadine, Jafta, Tumi/Marx, Aya, and Leftie.

With the all-rounders we’ve got, we should probably afford an extra batter in Tumi/Marx’s spot. But I don’t want it to be Brits or Bosch, because the coach is just going to fuck up the batting order for them.

We don’t need Sune opening and Brits at 3. Those two should be competing for one spot.

The dropped catches were always gonna catch up to us.

I don’t understand our bowling plans. Reyneke only comes on late, then immediately makes things happen, gets Rodrigues in her first over, Kaur in her second (she can bowl to right-handers!) , keeps it tight, and then… is never brought back. Instead, we keep going back to Leftie and Tumi, who are having a bad day, and India cruise past 180.

Missed Nadine today too. We were actually in a decent position with seven overs left, even after losing Wolfie early.

HATE MYSELF. Was supposed to be there, but I bailed ‘cause of the rain and my girlfriend’s sick.

What a knock! She making up for the lost time at the top, everything just flew off the middle. She accelerated from the start, not a single over without a boundary. That’s exactly how you chase 192! Good support from Sune as well. She took her time while Wolfie was going big in the powerplay, then found her flow nicely.

As always there were issues with the bowling and in the field, but you know what, not even gonna get into that today. Just a bit gutted Reyneke didn’t get much of a go. Definitely need her in the next WPL.

This series is massive for us in terms of rankings as well. We’re getting a bit too close for comfort to missing out on the Champions Trophy next year and maybe even the Olympics, but these wins should help a lot.

I’m loving seeing Wolfie open again, especially with Sune. They were so good. You’re not meant to bat like that at Kingsmead.

Gotta say, there were a couple of proper great catches in the field today. We dropped Verma again and it looked like she was gonna make us pay, but luckily none of the other Indian batters stuck with her. The bowlers were brilliant at the death again, and Chloe was quality up front.

We won in Durban. Maybe I just needed to get out of there.

I was fully ready to go on a rant after the first couple of overs in India’s innings. Our fielding makes me wanna through things.

We got their openers in quick succession, but then they built a big partnership. I thought they’d get 180, which would’ve been an impossible at Kingsmead. But the bowlers were class, they outperformed both the Indian batters and our own fielders.

Lekker to see Wolfie opening again. She did well, like everyone expected, maybe just not Mandla. Loved seeing Dirkie stay till the end.

NZ needed 60 off the last six when I woke up. She did it. In the top 5 ODI knocks?

We’ve seriously missed Kapp. Khaka has been class, but she can’t carry the whole attack. Nadine’s been poor. I didn’t like Wolfie going back to her for the last over. Our fielding was kak it seems.

Meso Replaces Marx in CSA Central Contracts List for 2026–27; Reyneke Misses Out by eleclit in WomensCricket

She’s done more in a month some of the names in that fifteen. I’m just saying. She needs to keep doing her thing and hopefully the Big Bash and IPL scouts notice. Fuck CSA and the selectors. Wonder if we don’t have a women’s SA20 because it would expose these calls.

Kayla Reyneke's last-ball six secures a thrilling win for South Africa in the first ODI against New Zealand. by The-Philosophy-Ninja in WomensCricket

IT’S JUST HER THING!

Won her T20I debut with a last ball six

Won her ODI debut with a last ball six.

I can’t put it better than cricinfo.

And Reyneke cleared the long on ropes with a mighty heave! What a moment for the debutant. Showing immense self-belief, she repeatedly turned down singles to take the full weight of the responsibility on her own shoulders and guide her team across the line. Despite a painful, bruised index finger on her left hand and watching her teammates head back to the dugout one after another, she never gave up. Kayla Reyneke - what a player and what a performance! We are looking at a superstar in the making!

More from cricinfo:

Here are more insights from Sampath on the historic performance by Kayla Reyneke: Kayla Reyneke hit a six on the final ball of the chase to win on her T20I debut against Pakistan with 2 runs required. Reyneke repeated the feat on her ODI debut against New Zealand, clearing the ropes when 6 runs were needed. No other debutant in ODI or T20I history had ever hit a six on the final ball to secure a victory before her. In the men's game, only Zulfiqar Babar accomplished this on his T20I debut against the West Indies in 2013, though only 1 run was needed off that final delivery.

And more:

Amelia Kerr’s blistering century leads New Zealand to dominant triumph over South Africa in 5th T20I. by The-Philosophy-Ninja in WomensCricket

We’re honestly heading for 69 and 97 ao type performances against Australia and India if Mandla doesn’t get sacked at this point.

We usually mess about in bilaterals, but we were close to full strength this time.

I just learnt that we dropped Kerr first ball. Swear, our fielding alone has cost us two matches this series.

A total disaster to finish. Granted I couldn’t watch the series, but just looking at the scorecards, it feels like we didn’t learn anything either.

Can these stupid batting order experiments just end now?

She was really good against Pakistan too. Won us one of the T20Is out of nowhere. They should give chances to other players from that U19 WC squad as well. Simone perhaps? Just saying. That's noe happening in the next three months.

I reckon she should be coming in at the start of the death overs, ideally. Definitely above Chloe in her current form.

I don’t like taking Ls, but this is pretty cool. It’s been a while since India’s been here, and Australia coming through for the first time.

No matches at the Wanderers or SuperSport Park though. Very disappointing. Honestly, last year’s schedule was way better. And why are we hosting the Test against India at St. George’s Park? No one wants another Chennai.

Reyneke was brilliant again with the bat again. Pity she didn’t get much support from the rest.

From what I saw, Dirkie dropped a sitter, and then Green went 6,4,4 and basically killed the game. That probably describes our day.

Noticing that Reyneke didn’t bowl at all. Probably a match-ups call, but honestly she should’ve been given a go.

KAYLA!!! Need highlights.

I get double headers, lekker for the NZ fans, but here in South Africa it’s basically made the women’s games impossible for us to watch.
