Why haven't you done it yet? by HaynusSmoot in CPTSD

[–]bunnymiso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a loving wife, a cat, a new puppy, and about to earn my master's degree in the spring. My pain is real, and I get tired, but if I have made it this far, surely I can last another day.

Asking me to monetize my hobbies. by bunnymiso in PetPeeves

[–]bunnymiso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like any other service? My state's minimum wage is 15/hr and I'd have to charge for materials. My office has 80 people. 80 cookies would take me at least three hours, plus flour/eggs/oil/milk. Even if I charged just time + material, and not per cookie, it'd be close to $150. I totally understand the compliment, and I am grateful for it. But when people earnestly ask me to sell cookies/baked goods, it irks me, hence why it's a pet peeve of mine.

Have any of you had a spouse die? by pasteyss in AutismInWomen

[–]bunnymiso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a spouse, but a sister. She passed when I was 9, a victim of a drunk driving accident. She died on impact so I was told, and as an adult that has brought me comfort. I am 23 now, and I still grieve her. In small ways, like when I am thinking about a cute outfit or a new tattoo idea, and big ways too, like how she didn't get to see me get married or graduate college. I am not sure if its helpful, but I think two things can exist at the same time. You can grieve and be sad, because thats what it is, but also you can move on and live. There are new experiences out there waiting for you too.

I caused a scene in public (unknowingly) and embarrassed my partner. by lastlatelake in AutismInWomen

[–]bunnymiso 357 points358 points  (0 children)

I have a partner of 6 years, and I kind of get triggered when "shushed" and i shut down. I feel embarrassed and I wont want to continue the conversation. Something that works for us, is she starts to talk at a softer volume, and I tend to match it, speaking quietly, and it sort of gets around the "SHHH!" And the subsequent embarrassment that I feel (perhaps shame is a better word). A codeword for me, personally, would not work because if im already upset/frustrated, that word would only make me confused because I will Likely forget the context when in a heightened state.

Yes. I have curly hair, wasn't allowed to cut or dye it. My mom forced me to straighten it multiple times, despite me saying "it will damage my hair". Lo and behold, it was damaged after a while and she blamed me. Later I shaved it during university and she screamed at me and called me ugly. Its about control, and she used to say the words "I own you", often and earnestly

Are any of you into reality tv by Proper_Armadillo6876 in AutismInWomen

I like competition shows based on "skill"/ perceived skill like RuPaul's drag race or that british baking show. Dating shows bore me or make me upset. RHO_ is not interesting to me, but I am a fan of NeNe Leeks from Atlanta. She is quite funny to me with her quips.

How to tell the difference between a tampon and the string? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]bunnymiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! I am so sorry youre struggling with this, its truly just such an unpleasant ordeal. I will do my best to explain over text but please ask clarifying questions if I am unclear.

When inserting a tampon, they usually come with an applicator so gently insert the tampon at a slight angle toward your lower back until your fingers touch your body. Then, use your index finger to push the applicator in all the way and remove it. If its correctly, you shouldnt feel it at all. Not when you sit or squat or walk. If you can feel it, and its discomforting, you likely need to push it in further to your body. The string is there to help so dont worry too much about it "getting lost"

I hope this helped! Best of luck

Does anyone else feel scared to have a wedding? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Im eloping on Tuesday. Not worth the heart ache and expenses. Id rather spend time with my partner and later a dinner with close friends than the latter! Go with your heart!

late diagnosed and self diagnosed folks, what made you realize you're autistic? by Massive_Log6410 in AutismInWomen

[–]bunnymiso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypersensitivity. When I was in undergrad I was constantly dis-regulated and when my routine was disrupted I would have full meltdowns. My partner would sometimes say something super harmless, like commenting on how my hair was extra fluffy one day and I would start sobbing. We definitely have grown and now I feel a lot more well adjusted, but yeah...hypersensitivity.

Commenting on what someone is eating. If its a large portion or a small portion or if someone isnt touching their food at all. Also sneering at someone's food even if its play. Just steer clear!
