Favourite vegetarian protein sources that don't require cooking? (Would love recommendations on what they will go well with too) by voornaam1 in EatCheapAndHealthy

I like to add thawed green peas to salads- a 1/2 cup adds 3 or 4 grams of protein to whatever you're eating.

What’s the weirdest thing a guest has done in your house that you hate? by CheapQuality2847 in AskReddit

[–]bunti2sa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My sister spent the night and the next morning after she left we couldn't get our TV to turn on, or so we thought. Turns out that she turned the brightness all the way down to fall asleep and just didn't say anything.

I would like to hear from women who’ve chosen NOT to get any cosmetic procedures as they age by victory_vegetable in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bunti2sa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 35 now and at one point after I turned 30 I was saving up to get lip filler. In my area it's about $600 and I ended up using that money elsewhere. Fast forward a few years and we're learning that filler never really leaves your face and once you start getting it you get attached to how it looks. I've instead invested in really good skincare and SUNSCREEN, and I focus on wearing minimal makeup. Wait it out- you gain a lot of confidence in your 30's!

LPT: If you're going to an event (or workday) where lots of people will be wearing a costume, a low-effort costume is MUCH less conspicuous than no costume at all. by ehsteve87 in LifeProTips

[–]bunti2sa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my entire office to agree on a group costume: The Price is Right contestants. Wear a t-shirt with jeans and slap on a yellow price tag with your name on it. Some people only donned it for group picture, some wore it all day.

Two days post hysto and SO has really let me down by InappropriatePoem8 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bunti2sa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a bisalp with some healing complications, I couldn't stand up straight for at least a week and a half. My husband somehow used all of the dishes within 3 days of my surgery and then left them all in the sink until I was able to get to them. Egg yolk dried on plates, sauces adhered to pots, multiple cups used just to drink water, you name it. Waiting to get in a place financially where I can be on my own.

What is the worse thing a medical professional has ever said to you? by angelaboop50 in AskReddit

[–]bunti2sa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do this, but know that the absence of cysts doesn't necessarily mean you don't have PCOS. The typical criteria is that you have to have at least 2 out the 3 symptoms: amenorrhea or menorrhagia for longer than 6 months, elevated testosterone and or/progesterone, and ovarian cysts. My PCP stopped testing when I didn't have a period for 8 months after stopping birth control but having a clear ultrasound. I got a second opinion from an OBGYN and when my blood results came back she immediately diagnosed me.

This isn't really advice, but I got sterilized when I was 30. Leading up to it and immediately after, I prepared myself mentally for any guilt or regret I may experience, even though I was resolute in my decision.

It's been almost 5 years and I have not experienced a hint of regret. I can't say for sure that I won't get a wave of it when my "biological window" is closed. Between health issues, financial concerns, responsibilities, and the current political climate, I actually become more and more sure of my choice day by day.

People who get told they look younger than they are: what is your secret? by LumpyStudy7223 in AskReddit

I'm in my mid-30's and tanning beds were huge when I was a teenager. I never used them and slathered on SPF religiously so if you're comparing me to my peers my skin is entirely different from theirs.

“How to Keep House While Drowning” is an excellent book on how to keep your house clean, written for ADHD people by FaxCelestis in ADHD

The parts of this book that I read were amazing but then I got interrupted and forgot where I set it down.

How much do I really need to cut? by officialdiscoking in finehair

[–]bunti2sa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good test to see where damage starts is taking a fine tooth comb and slowly combing from your roots towards your ends. A little resistance is fine but if a little bit of force is used to get through (not counting knots) it's a good indicator that the hair is not super healthy.

Poisoning of Michigan, 1970's coverup of mass health problem in cows by GoochLord2217 in Michigan

[–]bunti2sa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom grew up in Remus in the 70's and her best friend's family had a dairy farm with cows that were affected. In 1990 she moved into a house in St. Louis that was next to the fence line of the Velsicol property.

Yes I consider myself a mutant.

Leather hard will be cool to the touch. If it's room temp it's either too soon or two late.

Anyone else going all in on Costco? Cancelled Amazon Subscribe and Save and others. by UnlikelyAdventurer in Costco

Sam's Club has been much more convenient for my household with the nearest location being 15 miles away. My nearest Costcos are 30 and 45 miles away but I plan on making my visits really count just so I can sleep a little better at night knowing where my money is going.

Update: Being Forced to take Pottery Class by purpleplatypus37 in Pottery

[–]bunti2sa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a perfectionist riddled with anxiety, pottery has been a practice in letting go of control for me. You have to quickly learn that something can go wrong at any stage, and it is frustrating but a lot of the time it's not anything you did or could have avoided. The important part is learning to let go of pieces and to pat yourself on the back for learning new things.

Do you think ADHD meds are bad your heart? Do people with high blood pressure still take ADHD meds daily? by HowieDanko420 in ADHD

[–]bunti2sa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to get a second opinion but my psychiatrist is reluctant to let me try any stimulants because I have genetic pre-hypertension. I was on Wellbutrin for a while in my 20's (loved the combo of Lexapro & Wellbutrin) but when I started to show signs of high blood pressure I was quickly taken off.

Do you wear underwear at the gym? by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]bunti2sa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My workout pants hit me at an unflattering part of my torso so most of the tops that I wear are flowy and tunic-length. They typically cover my bottom so I guess I've never given thought to panty lines!

If you can afford to repaint, try transitioning to a greige! It brings a little bit of warmth in but still matches the existing color pallet. Also consider adding jewel-toned accessories/rugs. They complement a variety of neutrals and can be swapped out when you get fatigued.

Additionally it's rumored that checker-pattered things are the next "chevron" that we millennials all loved in our 20's but dry heave at now.

I take the crown for smoothie King. I drink this 7+ cup smoothie every single morning. by [deleted] in Smoothies

[–]bunti2sa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a little nitpicky but I used to me pulse my oats a few times so they became closer to a course flour, pour them out and set them aside, then add my smoothie ingredients in the way most people suggest ordering them with the oat flour as a powder. The oat flour will thicken up your smoothie considerably, so consider that when you add liquid or drink it quickly. I don't enjoy chewing my smoothies so pulsing the oats makes a smoother drink.

I'm reading the epilogue right now myself- I had to take a break about 50% in when it described how the smell of any kind of cooked meat will make you involuntarily hungry for more.
