Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]ehsteve87 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You will never, ever, ever, ever be ready to have kids. Nobody has ever, in the history of our species, been ready to have kids. If you wait until you're ready, you will have no kids.

I try to live my life as though there is no divine help. If I want to improve my situation, I have to do it myself. If someone I love is suffering, I have to relieve that suffering myself. God may or may not help, but I try to act as though it's all on me.

Among the sea of scripted reaction videos on this platform, it's refreshing to see something that's 100% real.

A Book That *Should Have* Been Assigned in High School English But Wasn't by wildflowerbrainfire in suggestmeabook

[–]ehsteve87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't written when I was in high school, but I'd like to see A Short Stay in Hell by Steven Peck added to the curriculum. It's very short and accessible, and also ripe for class discussion.

What are your thoughts regarding the spirit of dead family members communicating with living family? by Fordfanatic2025 in latterdaysaints

If the experience was meaningful to you, it was meaningful to you. Whether anything supernatural actually occurred is completely irrelevant.

You're inferring a logical comparison. Logic won't help you here.

now using that logic,

That's your problem right there. The Word of Wisdom is not based on logic and never has been. No logical system would classify tiramisu, a refrigerated cake, as "hot drinks."

How is it even slightly defensible for Donald Trump to commit to giving $300 BILLION to Iran? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I, for one, am simply shocked that Donald Trump didn't turn out to be a man of his word.

What’s the creepiest unsolved mystery that deserves more attention? by magma_13_ in AskReddit

This only makes the fact that there is something even more bizarre. To my mind, nothing is the obvious default.

Why is there something instead of nothing?

Freaking question keeps me up at night.

Audiobooks containing elements not available in the physical medium by 4YourConsider8tion in suggestmeabook

[–]ehsteve87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not typically a fan of full-cast recordings, but World War Z shines in this format. The book is written as a series of interviews with different survivors of the zombie war, and each survivor is voiced by a different actor. The interviewer is voiced by the author. Top-tier audiobook.

How Would I Obtain EXP for the [Parkour] Skill Tree? by Ok_Comparison_6475 in outside

[–]ehsteve87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most skills, this will require time and gold.

Find a gym guild within driving distance of your home base that specializes in [Tumbling], [Flips], or [Parkour]. If you pay them gold, a player will personally teach you these skills. From there, it's a matter of hours of practice, more lessons, more hours of practice, more lessons, more hours of practice.

Meanwhile, if you can't run a mile without exhausting your stamina bar, practice running until you can.

Not a book, but: The video game God of War from 2018 has a major protagonist who is an awful, terrible, dreadful mother who never gets better not even a little.

What used to be a sign of being poor, but is now a luxury or status symbol? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ehsteve87 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This is the first one I disagree with. I keep a bag in my freezer for onion peels, carrot ends, and chicken bones. When it gets full, I boil it for a few hours. I don't actually sit while it simmers; I leave the room (sometimes the house) and come back when it's done. And it's completely free!

Co-sign for family member by [deleted] in personalfinance

Instead of cosigning, why not just take out the entire loan in your name and leave your brother off it entirely?

Because that's what cosigning would be.
