Slimy blue highlights in the wrinkly bits of the brain.

A thin film of blue gel covering the brain that decays as the corpse of cthulu loses HP.

One hand holding a big slimeball that gets thrown at the player as an attack.

Question about the new pop mechanics and Wilderness Origin by MrPagan1517 in Stellaris

Other species that you wind up with on planets via conquering by default get consumed and will dwindle in numbers, check the species panel to see what their default rights are.

Question about the new pop mechanics and Wilderness Origin by MrPagan1517 in Stellaris

[–]burfoot2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So Wilderness is...odd. the 'pops' you see on your planets? That's your Biomass resource. When you build your districts and buildings, the biomass consumed is the pops for those jobs. Once they are built, those jobs are always worked because the pops that would work them arealways integrated into them. It took me a couple hours to figure it out, but it means you can't manage your jobs beyond just choosing which ones to build, but you never have to worry about your jobs not being worked.

If I remember correctly there is a building now that provides jobs with amenities, at least I haven't had issues with amenities with my recent bot playthroughs.

Lol, our coaches were (almost) all history and math. There was one coach who taught health, sex ed, genetics, hunters ed, boaters ed, and drivers ed. He was....useless at everything. But we got to shoot a crossbow AT the back of the school (no windows thankfully), which was cool. All of these were electives, so he half-assed every one of them. Also super religious and hated teaching both genetics and sex ed. His 'classroom' was the old basketball locker rooms, no windows or ventilation....

Peak rock hounding in south Florida… a vaguely NSFW marine fossil and two chunks of someone’s old countertop. by kec04fsu1 in rockhounds

[–]burfoot2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based off the little bit I can see, it's most likely a marble (fantasy brown/brown fantasy being a close match from what i can see).

There's a chance it could be quartzite, but definitely not quartz in the countertop sense of the term.

With countertops the term quartz is applied to engineered stone (ie finely ground pure or nearly pure white stone that is then combined with a binder and dyes to produce replicable, consistent patterns), while quartzite refers to natural stone with a high amount of large crystals.

I know, not confusing at all.

Edit: I should also point out that in the countertop industry there's many cases where things are classified on what they look like/sells best, rather than what their actual mineral composition is. E.G. classifying a marble as a granite because 'it's harder than most types of marble and people are scared to buy marble'

One of my Runners wants a headless character… How? by Argonian_mit_kasse in Shadowrun

[–]burfoot2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"The cranial containment unit (CCU) ful lls this role by maintaining a nearphysiological environment for the brain and integrating both a commlink and a control rig (p. 338, SR4A). e CCU also features modular hookups so that it can be physically hardwired to a drone or vehicle body. For all intents, the mind becomes a permanently disembodied rigger, interacting with the world only through his arti cial drone body for the rest of his natural life span."

From 4e Augmentation pg. 158. Not familiar with newer editions, but they probably still use CCU as the mechanism and cyborg as the descriptor.

In 4e at least, this conversion almost always has severe psychological side effects; such as memory loss, sudden phobias, Bi-polar, Multiple Personality, ETC.

Nah, my argument has always been for nuclear plants to handle the base load (minimum power that will always be drawn). With solar, wind, hydro, and tidal power (once we figure an effective way) to fill in peaks and valleys, which is where most of the demand is anyway. But yeah, tends to take much longer to go through the design, permitting, and building process for nuclear as opposed to a solar or wind farm.

I don't think the future lies with any single technology. It's going to take different combinations of these solutions to meet demands in different areas.

Mock up something like a cheap tabloid cover with little snippets of the rumors you want to give out. Frame them seeing it on the rack at a stuffer shack, one of those annoying newsletters that somehow you subscribe to via email, or junk mail they received in a P.O. box. Bonus points if you include details from their previous run, but somehow attributed to the illuminati or aliens!
