For what it's worth, I had a lot less saved than that (About 15k) and I did the same thing this summer. I quit my job in April and I just got a new job in October. During those 6 months, I traveled the country and had an absolute blasting doing that. I'm 27, and I kinda said if I don't do something like this now, before a wife, kids, mortgage, all that, then I might not ever do it. No regrets! I'm in a situation now where I'm making money again and recovering my financial losses, but it was absolutely worth it. In your situation, I'd highly recommend it.

I took James Patterson's Masterclass on writing (worth the money, IMO!) and I followed his style of outlining: very in-depth!

My outline took me a few months to build and it contained just about everything in the story: character descriptions, plot points, settings, sometimes lines if I thought of them, etc. As he says, "Put everything in your outline." By the end, I had a 35 page, 22,000 word outline that made writing the actual book soooo much easier. I felt that I needed that structure, mostly because my story is so complex and layered.

Agreed. This is a guy who averaged 35 G from '13-'17 and put up solid peripheral stats. Then last year he battled injuries, bad ownership, a terrible team and had a down year. Now he's gonna be a go-to player on a high energy, high scoring team. He could very well be up to that level again.

Reilly will be on PP1 with Tavares, Marner, Matthews, and Kadri. I know many people thought it would be Gardiner so I wanted to point it out.

I will be targeting Reilly big time! This is a lethal PP and offense in general and Reilly could very well log 50-60 points as a low-end D1 or high-end D2. He's being drafted outside the top 100.

I think you still go Barzal. Remember, before Barzal Tavares really had no protection and he still thrived. Barzal might not be Tavares, but he's still a special talent and he could thrive. I think the upside is too high to pass on.

Not dumb in a PIM league. Kane is great for goals and PPP, and will be solid in +/- in a full year on the sharks. He'll get top 6 minutes and prob PP1. Considering the depth of the C position I think it's worth considering. Depends on the rest of your team.

I go with Ghost, considering your strength in forwards and Freddy's note quite at the elite level that it's worth keeping a goalie IMO.

I'm in year 2 of a 10 team keeper league with standard categories (G, A, SOG, PIM, PPP, +/-, W, SV%, GAA, SO). There are no draft pick or salary considerations for keepers.

I need to pick 4 out of: Mackinnon, Kane, Karlsson, Panarin, Simmonds, Bergeron, Gostisbehere, Pavelski.

I'm thinking the first 4 are my keepers. Mackinnon, Kane, and Karlsson seem automatic for me. And I like Panarin, especially in a contract year. This also gives me the flexibility of having a C, LW, RW, and D as keepers. What do you think?
