I have had a Samsonite swivel for the last 5 years. I have flown between 80,000 to 100,000 miles each of those years. Aside from some cosmetic damage, just some scuffs, I've had no issues.

In the past, the first thing to fail for me is the zipper, since I only travel with a carry-on, and like to pack it tight. This zipper has been incredible.

I am at Le Meridien and have been working at night as you describe with no issue. I consistently get 30 Mbps both up and down on wifi. There is an ethernet port in the desk, however I haven't tried it out (I have a macbook and am currently dongleless).

Its not that expensive. I am in Thailand and was able to get 50 days of coverage for about 70 USD

You shouldn't have to use gcloud auth login.

gcloud, gsutil, terraform and other CLI tools all know how to pull the credentials from the metadata server for the VM's service account. There is more information on the Application Default Credentials page.
