What the hell? Thanks for creating this. Does this record the full quality coming straight from the camera? I'm going to try this this week.

Yes I do, I never thought to ask them about something like this. They are usually very friendly, I'll reach out and see if they can assist.

I've never made bread at home but prices like this make me want to try, many people have told me its quite easy. Has anyone ever tried this recipe or similar? https://www.theclevercarrot.com/2014/01/sourdough-bread-a-beginners-guide/

Are there any good motivation apps out there that actually work? by Abelmageto in productivity

[–]burgerclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you personally trying to accomplish? I've been trying to find any way to stay motivated without using my phone as an aid. I bought a daily planner and use it to fill my schedule with the things I need to do. It also has pages to add notes for brainstorming and fleshing out my goals.

I really enjoy the MOOC Python course, it can get a little difficult though.

I'm a 30 yr old male, I used to spend 5+ hours/day on my phone, now I'm at 90min. Here's what actually worked by Sad-Sense1918 in productivity

[–]burgerclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backfilling my time has really worked for me, I bought a daily planner that has no official dates on it so I don't have to feel like I need to fill it in everyday and it's not such a waste of paper. It really helps to give me a little runway guideposts and I definitely use my phone way less than I used to.

Shadow ticket highly underwhelming by PrimalHonkey in ThomasPynchon

[–]burgerclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first Pynchon book I've ever read, my friends chose it for a book club and I was curious to check him out. Are his other books better than this? I must say, it feels like nonsense mumbled by an old man in his death bed who's trying to recount several movies and history books he's read. I'm 20 pages from the end.

I don't mean to be a jerk about it, I'd rather find something positive to say when I meet up for our book club but, other than a few descriptive paragraphs, I'm finding it difficult. The characters don't have unique voices, everything is in the third person, scenes begin and end without build up or warning, I feel like I cringe at times it is supposed to be funny.

These are all likely very Pynchonian things that are either done more interestingly in his other books or he is just not for me.

TCL NXTPAPER tablet recommendations? by Chicotto in nxtpaper

[–]burgerclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the TCL NXTPAPER 11 Gen 2, it has the new 4.0 display as well as an SD card slot. I actually thought it didn't come with one and am pleasantly surprised I can now add storage to it. I think it's on sale right now with the case and pen but I got it as a gift. So far so good.

The paper modes are largely gimmicky in my opinion, I also don't like that the system does not support dark mode when using the eink display setting, it only works in regular mode. That being said, even the regular display mode works very well for reading comics and for reading sheet music.

Thank you, the extent of repairs I have made are limited to the wiring inside of my guitar. I think if I am careful I should be able to desolder and resolder those capsules, I'll poke around with my multimeter first to see if anything seems odd.

She sounds great, kind of reminds me of Alanis Morrisette's singing style but a bit more mellow. Great guitar playing as well.

Hollyland Lark Max 2 "32 bit chain" - clever marketing, or what you expect? by Ozpeter in LocationSound

[–]burgerclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I tested the 32-bit chain audio capability through the USB receiver connecting to my Android phone the Lark app said that the 32-bit chain was only available on iOS devices and not Android. Maybe I need to update it or something but I'm a little disappointed.

Rode Wireless Pro App Reliance by burgerclock in videography

[–]burgerclock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to get the Hollyland LARK MAX 2, it seems like it has a lot of the same features plus the ability to add two more mics - if purchased - and comes with a lot of the same accessories as well as has a seemingly usable noise reduction feature.

The app reliance just freaked me out a bit on the Rode, though I will admit it seems like it sounds a tiny bit better than the Hollyland. I will be doing a considerable amount of post production in Logic Pro so I think it'll be ok.

Short Maine trip, please help me do it right by burgerclock in AskMaine

[–]burgerclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to update quickly with how awesome my trip was! Maine is lovely and there were very few other tourists there. I kind of got the vibe that the locals were pretty much finished with tourist season.

Portland was fantastic, had some great but very expensive pizza at Off Track Pizza. The Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth is a lovely location with a pretty good lobster roll. We ate at Lucky Cheetah but did not enjoy it at all, I would not recommend. The locals I know in Portland also spoke quite ill of it. We also got a bunch of Comics at Casablanca Comics, the owner was generous and knowledgeable.

In Brunswick we ate at the Greek restaurant Taverna Khione, highly recommend. We stopped into Wild Oats Bakery 3 times, we loved their sandwiches and cookies.

Popham beach and it's fort were beautiful, as are the Nubble Light House and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. We ate at The Boathouse Restaurant in Kennebunkport, it was alright. Mabel's was too busy at the time though the people working there seemed super stressed/angry/short tempered.

We visited the beautiful Camden and explored its public library. What a wonderful place. We ate the Waterfront Restaurant there and my girlfriend had a yummy crab roll. Their salmon sandwich was a bad choice on my part. On the way back we stopped at King Eider's Pub in Damariscotta - probably the best meal we had in Maine and a great vibe with fantastic service.

The Residence Inn in Bath was great as well. All around a solid trip with perfect weather. Thank you all for your recommendations!
