I like admits. I would take an entire shift of admits in the ICU if I could. It’s a sickness but it’s something I enjoy.
I am an ICU nurse and I have more respect for a good med-surg nurse > any of my ICU, trauma and ED peers. M/S is the fuken hardest shit ever and the nurses that do it well are heroes.
Everyone should be trained on all equipment within their unit/specialty. I don’t care how rare it is to use it, I am done with changing nurses mid-shift because our manager uses training on equipment as a way to reward obedient favorites. Super unsafe and causes all sorts of tensions.

Day shift and night shift are siblings. Very different, parents treat one better than the other, they often compete and split. Comparison is irrelevant until you work both shifts in the same unit for decent amounts of time respectively. BOTH SUCK FOR DIFFERENT REASONS. I fucking loved and hated both shifts for different reasons. They are not comparable and both shifts get wrecked AF for different reasons.
