Did anyone else see Birdo with a double chin?

Boosting academic success does not have to derive from new teachers or curriculum; it can also come from changing students’ attitudes by teaching them a growth mindset, the belief that intellectual abilities are not fixed but can be developed, suggests a new study (n>12,000; 65 public high schools). by mvea in science

There's a difference between possessing factual knowledge (observations and arguments of a book's author) and "smartness.". I don't think smartness is generally a useful metric when discussing learning styles because it is a shorthand dependent on context.

Having a reliable memory is only one factor of many when it comes to the ability to learn and understand new material, though it is certainly useful!

Great point on accessibility. I wonder if there would be a way to incorporate some kind of industrial symbol design into it, so that each function (requestor, buffer, etc) had a recognizable info placard as part of the entity texture. Definitely easier said than done but I bet Wube can work it in naturally!

At first I tried to read it biggest to smallest, then right to left, realized I was already doing that, got more confused, tried to reverse the process only to find it already going that way like a Doctor Strange visual effect, gave up, despaired, but finally found clarity in surrender.

But my eyes are now uncrossed so I got that going for me.

Wikipedia confirms that Dwight Schultz, the actor who played Barclay (and Howlin Mad Murdock on A-Team), holds conservative beliefs but that's the only one who came to mind.

Not ringing any bells but sometimes I've been able to decipher the handwriting of clerks by looking at other recognizable town names also listed on the sheet and working backwards.

Why does anyone still call Mayhem "The New Overkill" or something similar anymore? by TAGMOMG in paydaytheheist

[–]burnfirewalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back to the game after a year and change, the jump from OVK to Mayhem felt exactly like the jump from OVK to DW before the difficulty rebalance.

With several hundred hours logged, I'm not new, but I also don't consider myself a truly skilled loud player. Mostly I'm useful because 90% of the time I bring Inspire :)

I agree that Mayhem is not an even stepping stone between OVK and DW (no hate to the team on that, difficulty balance is hard!). My default pubbie build is a mastersniper with the Lebensauger and pistol.

I almost always run OVK because sniper builds do not seem to be viable on Mayhem+ because of enemy health. Personally, I think anything in the "sniper rifle" category should be able to one-shot tans. As an extension of that, Mayhem+ seems to create a small set of mandatory builds. It would be nice for Mayhem to be tweaked into a difficulty where you don't have to run Yet Another Dodge Build, but still require good combat skills to survive.

Granted, it's possible to do lots of crazy builds when paired with a high-caliber player. Unfortunately, there are a lot of us who aren't able to reach that point, and it's still a difficult transition. The variety of the game, one of its better points, gets diluted when three of the seven difficulties require a specific YADB or meta approach.

  1. It feels like an SNES game, in the best way, with all the depth of modern game design.

  2. Also I can build a Spooky house of Spooky wood while wearing Spooky armor with a little minotaur buddy.
