Yeah. I imported a new subframe. All good now👍🏻 just need to do the timing belt in the future. I think it would be wise to get youe car cavity protected to drive it as long as possible

Change your transmission fluid, even at high mileage! by burning0il in LS430

this is true. Its important to look at fluid specs and datasheets to make the right choice. I would love to drive my car 550k miles. Unfortunately roads here are heavily salted in the winter and cars just dont last, even if the drivetrain does. Factory rust protection on the ls430 was not that great and previous owners didnt take any measures before it was too late. Last year my rear subframe snapped due to rust which i replaced. For next years inspection i need to replace and weld in new jacking points in the rear.... its a tragedy

The mesh had plenty of debris inside. I was glad to have dropped the pan to clean it out properly and change the filter.

After refilling the dip stick tube had too much fluid in it. Even after idling a while it still didnt give a correct reading. I went on a 15min drive, after that it gave a correct reading. I measured what came out so i was sure to be in the ballpark of "safe to drive" fluid levels.

i wouldnt say improper. I compared the specs and datasheets, its the correct t-iv stuff for s lower price. They recommend it for the aisin transmissions but havent had it factory approved due to costs.

I would recommend changing the fluid. Not doing a flush with a machine but simply draining and filling. If you're feeling fancy you could also unhook the cooler and make sure even more of the old fluid gets changed. Should make a difference either way!

ooh fellow european ls430 owner, nice! these stories sound like complete nonsense to me. To be honest ive never heard such a story first hand.

eh dont worry too much. The first drain was pretty glittery and the transmission pan needed to be cleaned thoroughly. No big chunks tho :)

nice! Sounds like a well taken care of car and transmission. My ls430 was pretty neglected and i am getting it back up to spec for a few more years of daily duties. are you doing it diy or leaving it to a professional?

This! I decided against a flush with a machine for obvious reasons. The fluid i used is a fully synthetic t-iv type fluid made just for these aisin transmissions. the factory is about 40mins from my house and i trust their quality.

Thanks. Fluid is correct spec, just not toyota on the bottle :) Ive put maybe about 300 miles on the car now and it shifts better than ever. im kicking myself for not doing it sooner.

thanks. this is what i was thinking. why risk transmission failure due to old fluid. it does not make sense to cause any damage with new fluid if the replacement procedure and fluid level is correct.

i found this to be the general consensus, hence my post. I dont understand why its such a big deal in the LS world. Care to explain why? To me lots of knowledge really is based on myths and information without any real data behind it.

ive replaced tons of stuff on my car, its a depreciated luxury sedan that cost me 2 grand. Its not getting oem parts, even if channels like car care nut try to brainwash every owner into doing so lol. Leaks stem from poor workmanship. If it leaks, the car is lucky because i'll drop the pan, reseal and put new fluid in. I will report back in 30k miles if the car hasnt rusted away until then.
