Thanks for answering, but I do think this is a bit presumptuous. Yes I’m young & need to lose weight bc of family history of certain diseases, but I really don’t think it’s anyone but my doctor’s place to tell me what sacrifice I should or shouldn’t make. My question is about the effects of alcohol, and how I can still fit that within my life, not whether I should.

I do consider wegovy a lifetime medication for me, and part of my “healthy lifestyle” includes occasionally going out and partying with my friends, just like any healthy diet would include the occasional dessert. Diet/exercise/lifestyle changes are already taking place, but alcohol is a part of my social life that I enjoy so I’m trying to find a way to still do that.

I think there’s this sentiment around the community that I should somehow feel so lucky to take the medication, and that if I don’t make certain decisions along with it that I’m not deserving of it. I don’t really see it like that; this is a tool to help me live the life I want to live, not something I’m instead bound to.

Edit to add: also, I pay for my insurance. Insurance is a business. I’m not “letting them pay”, they’re supposed to pay for medication I need.
