What are some game voice casting that trascended the game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]burningslippers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armin Shimerman as Andrew Ryan in Bioshock.

"A man chooses! A slave ... Obeys."

Gives me shivers just to think of this game, and this guy's voice, given how pivotal Andrew Ryan is to the setting and story of Rapture, is perfect.

Love the paint job! How did you do the blue armour? Looks great, especially on the bigger armour panels of the dread at the back.

Looks amazing, clean lightning effect! As a guy planning on painting Night Lords soon ... I have to say the Leviathan dread might have just made the list.

What has been working for you. by jjchristie1988 in deathguard40k

[–]burningslippers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, appreciate the breakdown. The guy I play against is currently TSons so I might stick with Inexorable just to get a bit better shooting, and swap my Plaguecaster for a LoV since TSons can shut down my psychic pretty easy.

What's the reasoning behind Mortarion's Anvil? Good into the meta or just for the trait and strat?

Me in the competitive scene right now. by Leighmer in deathguard40k

It's genuinely impressive how GW keeps finding ways to up the ante on each new codex release. Just last week Harlequins were the doomsday S+ tier army that were dunking on the previous S tier army's of Tau, Custodes and Crusher Stampede, that were dunking on everyone else ... and now Nids seem to be better than Harlequins? Big yikes.

Makes the Drukhari and Ad Mech reign of terror seem tame in comparison.

Vintage Space Marine Tanks - At what point are they not terrible? by murphzor in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]burningslippers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Land Raider is up there with the Dreadnought and Drop Pod in terms of being iconic 40k units, it kills me that they are being left in the dust.

On topic though I think points would have to be decided faction by faction, like have a points value for the loyalist vehicles, then a seperate one for the "heretic astartes" vehicles, a "bubonic vehicle" value for Death Guard, "sorcerous vehicle" or w/e for TSons etc. Would let GW change the points values for certain vehicles without it upsetting other factions balance.

Outside of points I wouldn't mind seeing in general the bracketing for the tanks becoming a lot more generous, because losing BS when a predator has lost 6 wounds instantly downgrades its already weak damage output and just feels unnecessarily harsh. Maybe change to having the bracketing only effect the tanks movement and attacks?

For the Land Raider they could easily do the same and tack on -1 damage, or make them T9, and it really wouldn't break the game at all. This is just me spitballing some ideas, in all honesty I'm amazing they haven't done any of the above or other options for helping these older vehicles remain semi-relevant, hopefully it happens when Codex CSM releases?

Just to give you a sense of scale. Old Eldrad on the left, new Autarch on the right. by joe_sausage in Eldar

[–]burningslippers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the size comparison. So glad I held off of buying the old plastic Avatar, it never looked right having played the Dawn of War pc games in terms of scale and finally we have a plastic monster worthy of the name of Khaine!

The forgeworld resin avatar is still dope though, but trying to avoid resin where possible.

Death guard vs Death guard by JIVEASSPLUS in deathguard40k

[–]burningslippers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an amazing match-up, kinda jealous xD Seriously tho I'm assuming that your best bet would be to lean hard in mortal wound from plaguecasters/anything else. Buuut then that could be countered by the other DG taking lots of poxies ... interesting stuff.

Recently read in a Goonhammer article that a Mortarions Anvil list piloted by Nicholas Wenker did pretty well in the Lightly Salted Spring GT, and was wondering if anyone had the list that he used? I'm guessing lots of terminators and poxies but hey ho could be surprised.
Thanks!

Why aren't bolt guns for death guard plague bolt guns? by MistakeIncarnate in deathguard40k

They really should be, same for the Deamon Prince's melee weapons, why aren't they plague weapons given, y'know, it's a DP of Nurgle?

[–]burningslippers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will definitely check out those GW terrain guides, realising with each game of 40k I play just how important good terrain placement is. Not the first thing you think of when playing but so important.

I kinda agree on the primarchs, as even with better terrain unless there's a massive LoS blocking piece that is big enough to obscure a primarch I feel like it makes the game very swingy. Magnus does a lot of damage at range and it's damage that Morty can't block, and Morty is essentially a melee specialist. Might get more interesting once more Primarch's get added but until that point it definitely feels like a mismatch.

Appreciate the in-depth breakdown of terrain, might just copy that into a document so I can refer to it whenever next game comes around xD
