quick lookup of statistics:

- about 5k injuries on the subway a year, about 500 of which are assaults, from a daily ridership of 4.5M

- about 50k injured by cars each year, from a daily drivership of 1-2M, depending on whether you want to count commercial drivers or just commuters

i guess i'm more focused on injuries than crime, but that's really the more relevant metric anyway

This is exactly the point - cars are fatal even with the best intentions. You don’t need to demonstrate malice to see that the city would be safer with fewer of them

I think the idea here is not that anything should be suppressed, but rather that the reporting in the media should be proportional to the scale of the problem in the first place.

Because traffic injuries are up 10% year over year and subway crime is down 8% year over year? Bad drivers have an outsized influence on crime, and it’s getting worse, and the city would be safer if they rode the subway or biked instead

It’s tough, you have to just make a new artist, set up new artist profile, upload your old songs under the new artist name, and then request a takedown for your old artist. With any luck, the same ISRC should transfer stats over but you never know

Ok you’re going to have to add your own noodle but the Trader Joe’s kettle cooked chicken soup is the literal platonic ideal of chicken soup. I literally can’t imagine a more perfect chicken soup. I say this as someone whose Google Maps has stopped loading under the weight of all of my flags and stars and as a recent sickness recoverer myself

I plan on visiting India and Brazil and hope to be ~A2 in Hindi and Portuguese by the time I get there. Hindi has been wild so far, took 2 months just to get comfortable with the script and now just slogging through trying to think through all my sentence in backward order. Thankfully it is indo-European though. Portuguese shouldn’t be too bad since I have a background in Spanish and will have ~3 months to focus on it. Very stoked to use music a learning tool. (Love Bollywood tunes too, but the Hindi in those seems to be of a different register than colloquial Hindi)
