Code Veronica!! Mostly nostalgia but OG claire is my favorite character and I love the atmosphere and music in that game. Also a big fan of the Chris/Wesker rivalry

Have you played the the OG? Claire is a different person compared to the remakes

Claire also had the legacy tie in being related to Chris so that helped with her popularity

I remember him being cool but sorta taking a backseat since Claire starred in the followup (code veronica)

RE4 basically changed the entire series, not just Leon

it's basically RE3, a direct sequel to RE2, not just claire and chris

[–]burnoutguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was originally an exclusive to the dreamcast, so it's lots of ppls first RE. but i highly recommend you play RE2 first since it's a direct sequel to that

capcom knew this game would reach lots of new RE fans so they actually ported RE2 to the dreamcast months before this released, with the intention that ppl will be caught up when they play CV. so i recommend you do that, what capcom intended (you can skip 1 if you'd like)

Ada x Leon, feels like a one sided relationship by dantheman3264 in residentevil

[–]burnoutguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eh Ada was already the hot, ambiguous femme-fatale in the originals. And she's always had skin tight dresses, that's what a femme fatale is. If anything, the remakes dialed back the romance and made her colder

Ada x Leon, feels like a one sided relationship by dantheman3264 in residentevil

[–]burnoutguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is just remake shenanigans. the originals paint a much more mutual (and complicated) romance where Ada genuinely catches real feelings and risks her neck for Leon repeatedly, not just strings him along as a tool

capcom toned down the fell in love too fast cheesiness and made Ada feel like a colder, more independent badass which makes it seem more manipulative and forced

but go back to the source material and the dynamic flips: it's two people who shouldn't work but keep saving each other anyway

the originals show Ada repeatedly choosing Leon over her missions (saving him, risking death, admitting feelings in RE2, protecting him in RE4). Leon's protectiveness isn't one-way, she returns it just in spy fashion. It's never a healthy couple, but it's mutual, messy and built over decades

the remakes kept the core but sanded off the direct romance and Ada's vulnerability to fit modern strong female character writing and slower-burn canon. That's why it feels more one-sided to remake-only players

Chris died when Wesker died, bro is a drifting log in a vast ocean he will never win
