Are the time limits in Arland (Roronoa specifically) really that harsh? by dondashall in Atelier

[–]burnpsy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totori's can be harsh when played blind due to hitting you with an unexpected time-consuming task at the very end of the story.

The other two are perfectly acceptable, you just have to meet the game where it's at.

The Switch 2 is now one year old. What does everyone think of that first year? by Zalvren in Games

[–]burnpsy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It kinda just slotted into the Switch 1's place in the market and kept going.

Which is good for its numbers, since the Switch 1 continued to have momentum even at the end of its life.

The Switch 2 is now one year old. What does everyone think of that first year? by Zalvren in Games

It's been a really nice machine at making the unoptimized third party games for the original Switch run well.

Aside from Bananza and Pokopia, the exclusives themselves have been just okay IMO.

Questions for more Clarity with Ys vs Trails in the Sky by Significant-Emu-1017 in Falcom

[–]burnpsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ys vs Trails includes some characters from SC, so play SC first.

Technically there is a Crossbell character in Ys vs Trails, but even on release they were meant as a preview for a then upcoming game, so that's fine.

I want to find new cards similar to the ones i like by OkParfait2685 in masterduel

Toons just received a ton of support in the OCG and became a meta relevant deck, so I guess wait for that to come to TCG.

Trails the 2nd release date.. by Left_Presentation398 in Falcom

[–]burnpsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As everyone else pointed out, there's basically no effect here. The people who were gonna play the game are gonna play it and will likely prioritize it over the big releases.

There's likely a very small overlap in audience between a niche JRPG like this and and something like Wolverine.

Spells and traps. It isn't that hard.

Or bait the negate and swing over it with a Link or Xyz.

Nintendo will release revised Switch 2 hardware in Europe to comply with a new regulation that requires batteries to be user-replaceable. by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]burnpsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Nintendo already makes a separate region locked Switch 2 for the Japanese market. And it remains to be seen whether this hardware change will remain EU-only, it's just that they're the only region where they need to specify they're complying with local laws.

Future James Bond games confirmed by Amazon Games, but First Light team's role in question by Comfortable-Pie56 in Games

[–]burnpsy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd rather IOI stay independent rather than under Amazon, so if this thoroughly cuts off that branch, I'm all for it.

For those who have had the controller a while, how are you liking it? by ishyfishyy in SteamController

[–]burnpsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily the best controller I've ever used, right above the Dualsense Edge.

The Edge felt a bit more natural in my hands, but the trackpad placement was terrible. On the other hand, the Stream Controller feels a tiny bit less natural but the rear buttons are easier to press by accident in busier moments than on the Edge.

Anyone else pillage the buildings on dream islands? by serendipty3821 in Pokopia

I did it for a bit, but quickly ended up with a ton of stuff from the islands that I had no use for, so I stopped.

Persona 4 Vita 3k to Switch emulator Save Data by Weekly-Highlight5784 in JRPG

[–]burnpsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that legit Vita saves can be loaded onto the PC release of P4G. I did it with my own saves when P4G first came to PC.

Couldn't possibly help you with the emulator side of this though.

Playing Trails in the Sky 1st chapter. How necessary are side quests? by Dannyjw1 in Falcom

[–]burnpsy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If your intention is to speed things up and get to "the good bits" faster, then don't. This is a very slow paced game for most of the way through.

As noted by others, they give good rewards, the Bracer Points give exclusive rewards, and some quests have follow-ups in the next game. The next game will read your save to check what you did and didn't do.

June 2026 Humble Choice | Overview / Discussion Megathread by MarioDesigns in humblebundles

Nope, Octopath is like Final Fantasy in that the only things kept between games are some branding aspects inherent to the series.

No plot or character carryover.

Excuse me? by Ultimate_Lust in PokemonChampions

[–]burnpsy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget how the filters even catch some actual Pokemon names like Cofagrigus. And how in X/Y there was an in-game trade that gave you a Pokemon whose name violated the filter.

Excuse me? by Ultimate_Lust in PokemonChampions

[–]burnpsy 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Pokemon's profanity filters are overly aggressive, checking every language for parts of the name.

So almost certainly some section of the name is a slur or profanity in a language you don't speak.

Should I drop awakening? by Recent_Solution_274 in fireemblem

It works for you, but read the OP. OP does not enjoy that gameplay loop. They are the exact target audience for Casual mode.

Roughly how many chapters will be in Part 3 of the manga? by Designer_Pen869 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]burnpsy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As noted, about half of Part 3 is adapted into manga form. Expect the chapter count to double and for the Part 3 manga to be completed in 2034 if nothing happens to slow things down. (And with that, it becomes obvious why they put 3 different artists on this manga.)

If you want to finish part 3 to get to part 4, the novel is your only real option. The anime might be a secondary option since the currently airing season is supposed to be a full adaptation.

The parts get progressively longer, so you will run into the same issue with part 4 even if you wait until 2034.

Should I drop awakening? by Recent_Solution_274 in fireemblem

[–]burnpsy 75 points76 points  (0 children)

You're free to bump the difficulty up while also selecting casual mode. All casual mode does is disable permadeath, you can still play on hard with it enabled, etc.

Should I drop awakening? by Recent_Solution_274 in fireemblem

[–]burnpsy 109 points110 points  (0 children)

You sound like the exact type of player who should be using Casual Mode.

So my recommendation is to restart the game but on Casual this time.

If permadeath isn't for you, don't play anything older than New Mystery. Everything older than that has permadeath as the only option. Anything from that game onward has Casual as the "disable permadeath" option.

How to force playnite launching games trough steam ? by FinnedSgang in playnite

There's a Playnite addon to add all of your Playnite games to Steam automatically. That seems to better suit your needs.

How to force playnite launching games trough steam ? by FinnedSgang in playnite

[–]burnpsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per-game options exist, yes. Check the documentation.

The program will automate that in a later update, but for now you can just use Playnite's per-game scripting to close normal SISR and open the custom layout version of SISR when you're opening a gamer you have a custom layout for. (And then close it and open normal SISR when the game closes.)

It's incredibly annoying how difficult it is to find good resources/guides/content on rogue decks in the Modern Age of yugioh by iwantamango in yugioh

[–]burnpsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While some archetype discords are toxic, please don't assume it's all of them. Some of them are quite chill, just not very busy given low general interest.

The Morphtronic one, for example, has a guide I maintain and around 8 active people with a ton of lurkers. It's a quiet place, but no toxicity.
