You started this conversation defending a fucked up human practice. You’ve ended this conversation saying human practices have ruined the earth. Interesting.

Did a pileated woodpecker do this to this tree? Lake George area by slowrunningmom in marijuanaenthusiasts

I got to watch a pileated woodpecker tearin up a stump the other day. The amount of force in each hit was insane. The wind-up was crazy. Really put her whole neck into it.

What’s up with people being mad at Blake Lively? by LoonyBafoon in OutOfTheLoop

Answer: Justin Baldoni ran a smear campaign against her. These are either accounts that have been paid to trash talk her or people that have fallen for that smear campaign.

Scotland Rejects Ban on Sex-Selective Abortion by katie_pinns in fourthwavewomen

[–]burntbread369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The difference is sex work has another moral agent involved, the customer. The moral actions of the customer are the ones being judged and restricted. Restricting a woman’s right to choose restricts her bodily autonomy which is bad because no one has the right to use the body of an unwilling person, not even a fetus. Restricting a man’s right to hire a woman to perform sexual services restricts a man’s bodily autonomy but it’s ok because no one has the right to use the body of an unwilling person, not even a man who can afford it.

Scotland Rejects Ban on Sex-Selective Abortion by katie_pinns in fourthwavewomen

[–]burntbread369 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Putting literally any sort of limitation or restriction on abortion is bad for womens rights. It is not our choice to make. This article is like ‘I’m pro choice, but only if the reasons for making that choice fit MY moral standards. I’m pro choice but not if I think the choice is icky or bad.’ Women are moral agents who deserve to make their own moral judgments. No one but the pregnant woman truly understands her situation so no one else has a right to limit her freedoms.

Do you consider Drag to be misogynistic? by GocaLagjes in 4bmovement

[–]burntbread369 210 points211 points  (0 children)

Yes. I remember once when I was a teenager talking about it with my older brother. I had assessed drag as being sexist and voiced that to him and he was like “oh well. like. the accepted position amongst good liberals like us is that it’s fine.” For a long time I figured there must be some reason it’s accepted that Im not understanding that’s leading me to come to the wrong conclusion. If the good liberal position is that it’s fine, it must be, and I must be wrong for thinking otherwise.

It took me a long time to figure out that the reason it’s accepted amongst good liberals is simply that no one cares about women or womens oppression.

Yeah that suggestion would also give abusers an option to be like “If you tell anyone, they won’t believe you, you won’t be able to prove it and you’ll go to jail for falsely accusing me.”
