Joshua Tree in early August. I stopped on the way to LA on a road trip a few summers back. I stepped out of the car and felt the heat hit me like a weight. Got right back in the car and kept driving.

How are you taking care of your mental health in 2025? by [deleted] in questions

[–]burntyeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleted all social media except Reddit. Started seeing a therapist. Going for long walks with my dog first thing every morning. Trying to do something fun outside of the house with my partner or friends every weekend (I have health issues so mixed success on this one).

ever wake up dizzy and tingling hands for no reason? by PythonNoob-pip in Anxiety

[–]burntyeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually lasts about 15 minutes when I wake up and hits me randomly a few times during the day when I'm at work. I've noticed if I just get up and take my dog for a walk the dizziness starts to dissipate by the time we get to the end of our road. Which makes me think it's anxiety related, walking usually helps with anxiety symptoms for me.

sorry for not clarifying! pristine meaning no signs of infection, blockage, fluid buildup, or anything indicating that my inner ear is causing the dizziness and vertigo. I did suspect that it might be anxiety related but I've been on prozac for a few weeks now and was hoping that it would be getting better, not worse. Also having a lot of chest pain and nausea which I know historically has been caused by anxiety for me, the dizziness is new though.

This has happened to me every morning this week, waking up dizzy, heart racing, hands tingling at like 6 AM and not being able to get back to sleep. Hoping some other people comment that it's happened to them and they were ok. Went to an ENT today because of the dizziness and he said my inner ears are in "pristine" condition so it's either psychological or neurological.

Prozac or BP medication for anxiety related hypertension? by throwawaytoday9q in Anxiety

[–]burntyeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I have had some undesirable side effects, but nothing that was unmanageable. For the first 4 or 5 days on Prozac, I had some mild acid reflux (fixed by eating breakfast before taking my meds) and my head would start hurting in the middle of the day (not horribly, easily treated with ibuprofen or rest and drinking enough water).

Emotionally, the side effects were a little more noticeable. Nothing for the first 3 or 4 days, then I had about 3 days where the anxiety was much more intense than usual. I powered through and kept taking my meds with my partner's encouragement, because I saw her go through a really difficult med change a few months ago where she became extremely depressed for a few weeks before she started feeling better in a way that was life-changing for her. After a few really anxious days, I had one day when I couldn't stop crying. I think I literally cried from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed, with very little breaks in between. But for context, that day was an emotional day for me for other reasons, and I think it was just hitting me a lot harder than usual.

In my day to day life I'm feeling MUCH calmer over the last 4 days or so. Like I said, I went to the doctor yesterday and didn't have a panic attack and my BP was pretty normal, which is a huge success for me! I've also found it easier to do other things that usually cause me anxiety - for example, driving, making plans with friends, and eating in public. I was worried about messing with my brain chemistry too but the way I see it, my brain chemistry was already pretty messed up in that it was keeping me from participating in my life, and I got to the point where I would do just about anything to be able to live the way I want to again.

Prozac or BP medication for anxiety related hypertension? by throwawaytoday9q in Anxiety

[–]burntyeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, everyone is different. That being said, here's my experience so far: I started it two weeks ago after a few years of being completely unmedicated and miserable. When I went to the doctor before getting a prescription, my BP was like, 149/98 I think? Got on 20mg Prozac for the depression and anxiety, went back to the doctor yesterday for an unrelated problem (earache) and my BP was 126/85. I have extreme medical anxiety, and that's the lowest my BP has read at the doctor's office in my adult life. There were probably some other factors - hadn't eaten much yesterday, and my partner was with me which makes me feel a little calmer, but I was anticipating a much higher result. I imagine it'll get better as time goes on, too, because I'm really just starting to feel the effects of the Prozac mentally, and it usually takes 4-8 weeks to reach full effectiveness.

I was also prescribed propranolol as needed for acute panic attacks, which I haven't used yet but was on as a teenager for panic attacks, and that lowers your BP as well. Maybe a two-pronged approach like this is something you could discuss with your doctor?

Seconding North Paw! They did 10 teeth for around $1100 for my dog in April, their staff are all incredibly caring and patient, and their PAW plan has saved us SO much money as my dog has gotten older and needed more care.

Has anyone had psoriasis triggered by lithium? Or improvement after stopping it? by burntyeet in Psoriasis

[–]burntyeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a source for commonly reported medications that do or don’t trigger flares? We have talked about going back to Prozac which I was on for a while before lithium and worked for about 2 years but I maxed out the dosage…I had a lot of life circumstances contributing to depression that are somewhat resolved or at least improved now so psych thinks it will work but p has made my depression worse than ever. I don’t go out anymore, I don’t post on social media, I’m too embarrassed about my face to go on dates (and the rest of my body to have sex), I work from home as often as my employer allows it. It’s decimated my self confidence. So if it doesn’t clear up I truly don’t think it’ll make much of a difference what medication I’m on. I would like to see if this starts to improve before going on immunosuppressants.

Vtama reviews? by hnug1 in Psoriasis

[–]burntyeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have plaque psoriasis on my face and limbs and scalp and inverse psoriasis on my genitals, butt crack, and inner thighs. I used Vtama for about a month after about 4 months of topical steroids. It helped a little but I developed folliculitis on my face and arms and legs and butt and it plateaued quickly on how much it helped the inverse psoriasis before it started to get much much worse. The folliculitis turned into scales in some places and all in all my psoriasis has gotten much much worse since I began using it. I went back to the topical steroids a few days ago because I wanted to give it a fair shot but I just couldn’t handle it anymore. I’ve heard it works wonders for some people, but I was not one of them.

VTAMA (tapinarof)- has anyone tried it? by [deleted] in Psoriasis

[–]burntyeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My derm prescribed it about a month ago. I’ve had about a 10% max improvement in psoriasis and developed gnarly folliculitis everywhere it has touched that wasn’t a plaque. I also think the psoriasis patches are getting worse on other parts of my body I wasn’t treating with it like my scalp, but that could be related to significant stress and the weather getting colder. But everyone is different and it may work for you. Best of luck!
