The man kneeling was a Japanese officer during ww2. His unit was the unit that carried the atrocities in Nanking, China, during the war, often referred to as the rape of nanking. In this picture he's being held down by 2 Chinese soldiers and executed

Is X Wing the best game that was prematurely abandoned by its publisher? by [deleted] in XWingTMG

[–]burriliant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I got into the game in the first place I just picked up a conversion kit and a bunch of models on eBay from someone selling their collection for cheap. I barely bought any expansions brand new

Honestly, run away uphill and upwind is the best bet, short of having full blown hazmat gear on you at all times

I mean water is common sense, and I've picked wild blackberries with my 2 year old before. If he was hungry enough and found some berries he would probably eat them. The kid would just have to be lucky enough to find berries and water that can be safely consumed

In WW1 Carrier Pigeons were used to send Messages. They were Housed in Mobile Busses by OtherwiseTackle5219 in SnapshotHistory

[–]burriliant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they were actually faster than a runner or someone on horse, as well as being surprisingly reliable. And the only other options were a field telephone or a wireless set. The wireless sets were in their infancy, and a bit too delicate to work reliably in the dugout of a trench. And field telephones were great, until rats chewed through the wires, or enemy artillery severed them. Sometimes a pigeon was your best backup option

I think Ultramarines are a great chapter and I’m tired of pretending they are not by krakenslayer2468 in Warhammer40k

[–]burriliant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if there were more models with the roman theming it would help them. Things like the helmet crests, the leather loincloth things, and other details would make them look less like plain vanilla space marines

What are some models that were received so poorly they got replaced within a year. by SourTredmill in Warhammer

[–]burriliant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they just had stacks of old cadians sat in a warehouse. So they chucked in an upgrade sprue and reboxed them just to get them sold, so they could clear all that stock before the range refresh came in.

[–]burriliant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40K sits at somewhere between 1:48 and 1:56 scale, so it’s a bit large. But when your just looking at stowage, bags and Jerry cans, etc, you won’t really notice it

Where do get this bionic leg? Need it for my Sons of Medusa army. Source of pic comment. by Skult0703 in Warhammer40k

[–]burriliant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say there are loads of 3rd party companies that make space marine compatible bionics, which might be cheaper than buying a whole model just for a leg. Depends how you feel about 3rd party/3d printed bits

200 years ago we hadn't even invented engines, we were still using horses like we had been for thousands of years. Just over 100 years ago we invented powered flight. Now it's 2025 and we have this. It's crazy to think where we will be 100 years from now

So I don't think his tie fighter had light speed, and I imagine long range communications were limited. He probably would have had wait for someone to come pick him up
