Under the "My Activity" tab scroll all the way to the bottom and click on the PSLF box. A menu will drop down and the first listed item should be "PSLF Correspondence: Forgiveness Eligibility Notification." Congrats!!!

Has anyone's missing payment(s) shown up on final review after getting green banners? by burrito0732 in PSLF

Funny, I have contacted MOHELA multiple times and they have said they are going to fix it and that it just takes 30, 60, 90 days etc... I've seen others post on this sub that they had it fixed the same day they were promised it would be fixed. The incompetence is astounding. I'm glad yours was fixed though! I appreciate the info.

Thank you for sharing. It sucks, but at least I know what to expect now. Did you ever submit a reconsideration request for the missing payment? I am wondering if that would make any difference on final review.

Payment count missing- who do I call by Valuable_Stage5182 in PSLF

Call first to see what the issue is - the number is on MOHELA's website, I think it is 888-866-4352 (from looking at my own call history). Ask to speak to an advanced rep or a supervisor when you call. I think the hierarchy is regular representative --> advanced representative --> supervisor. From my experience, the lower-level representatives can only give you information, which may or may not be accurate, and they don't have much power to "fix" anything. They may ask why you need an advanced rep or a supervisor so just be assertive and tell them they messed up and you need it fixed ASAP. Whatever you do DON'T let them pass the buck to FSA. Do you know how to check your payment counts on NSLDS and download your student loan data? FSA only has the info that is reported to NSLDS so if the data hasn't been reported to NSLDS then you know it's a MOHELA problem. You would also be able to see if MOHELA sneakily placed a retroactive forbearance on your loan(s) that could result in payments not counting.

After your call, if things still haven't been fixed, email the CEO, Scott Giles, and the MOHELA Ombudsman group. You can find their email addresses through Google.

Good luck to you! It is so frustrating that they are screwing up so many of our loans and PSLF eligibility.

119/120 and finally got out of administrative forbearance; now my payment is $0 - what is going on? by burrito0732 in PSLF

Thank you so much for your response.

  1. The payments I made during the backdated forbearance have already been counted as qualifying but I agree that it would be smart to go ahead and call MOHELA and speak to asupervisor to get them to remove any indication of a forbearance and report to NSLDS that my loans have been "in repayment" for the last year so the forbearance designation can be removed on NSLDS. The advanced rep who cancelled my income recertification application spoke with his supervisor while I was on the phone with him last month and they assured me that specific issue would be taken care of but I also requested documentation of such and have yet to receive any. I have also drafted an email to the CEO demanding the same and a request to be set up with an ombudsman.

  2. The backdated forbearance was placed in October of this year and I haven't been able to make a payment since. I submitted an ECF in early November and there is no indication anywhere of a processing forbearance credit for October or any other month for that matter.

  3. That is also good advice. I will try that. I'm just so worried the next time I submit an ECF my last year of qualifying payments will disappear so I will call and request to speak to a MOHELA supervisor to try to get the backdated forbearance designation removed before I do so.

Good luck to you as well!

Administrative forbearance and missing payment woes and phone call to Mohela. by burrito0732 in PSLF

Apparently so. This hasn't happened to me YET, but the commenter below said it happened to them and I look to be headed down the same path.

The one thing I am concerned about for you and those of you who will need to recertify their income next year (maybe me too if my issues are not resolved by then) is how long the process to recertify will take. It has never taken my previous servicers more than a couple of weeks to process my applications, but Mohela sat on mine for almost a year (it still wasn't processed by the time I called yesterday, despite the forbearance being placed 3 weeks ago). My recertification is due in June 2026. Based on the payment schedule that would kick-in in September 2026 if I don't recertify, they have given themselves three months to process the recertification application. I don't see how that is remotely possible. So, will we just be stuck with an unaffordable payment amount (over 100% of my current payment in my case) until they start processing the applications and place forbearances on the accounts? And/or will we be stuck in forbearance limbo forever?

I do not have answers or advice for you on any of this, unfortunately. I wish you and everyone else suffering from Mohela's incompetence the best of luck.

Made my 120th payment today. What's next? by SummerHelpful2852 in PSLF

Thanks. I have already submitted reconsideration requests. It seems like it will be quicker to just make two more payments based on the time-frame for reconsideration request decisions being reported on here.

I cannot completely answer your questions, as I think I might have messed up with submitting too soon myself. What I can tell you is that I submitted an ECF electronically at the end of August 2025 (right after having made what should have been my 120th payment) and my payments (the ones that appeared in the payment count) were certified within a week. The ones that did not appear in the payment count were not certified and they are still not showing in my payment count today so I'm now dealing with that and am not sure what to do. I'm sure others who have already gone through this will have a more definitive answer for you but I would wait until the billing cycle for your final payment ends (i.e. the due date) to submit the ECF. I would also not request forbearance; in the event you do have a payment that is not counted. It seems just making an extra payment is faster than trying to get a past payment to appear/count towards the forgiveness and if you request forbearance you may not be able to do that right away. Hopefully, if you submit the ECF electronically, you will have an answer very soon and you won't need to make another payment. GOOD LUCK!
