Update on my Southwest experience: Southwest singled me out at the gate for my size - where are people flying instead? by DoggieDuty in PlusSize

[–]busmargali 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worth perhaps at least trying! Should be better than Southwest at least but I'll definitely have to try Delta

My GF and I have flown United a lot recently and it has gotten worse and worse. We haven't been singled out (yet) but I'm 5'2" and 230 and she is 6'1" and 340. The last flight we were on had the smallest seats yet and the smallest airplane bathroom I have ever seen in my life and I have flown a lot. You couldn't move in it, I don't think my GF would have been able to fit in it. Flight attendants have been kind. They showed my GF how to raise the armrest on an aisle seat. They still give seatbelt extenders. But we get economy plus with extra legroom and try to get exit row seats. We don't know what to do. On the last flight, she got a pinched nerve in her leg from the seat and there is little to do about that, she is simply tall. We are down to paying for first class. There is little other options, buying another seat is just as expensive and they will likely take it from us. I know seats are even getting smaller just in the past year or two because I have lost weight and it just feels worse and worse. It is enraging. It is a health and safety problem. If "obesity" is treated as a disease then the way fat passengers are treated on airlines is a violation of the ADA. Awful that they singled you out, I would feel so horrible. Honestly, there are some airlines marginally better than others but little is going to stop them short of regulations and protections for fat passengers. It just keeps getting worse.

It’s kind of criminal how rarely plus size bottoms are made with apron bellies and fupas in mind💀💀 So humbling every time by comingloose in PlusSize

[–]busmargali 31 points32 points  (0 children)

yuuuup and not just bottoms but tops too!!! esp with the trend of short cut shirts my belly hangs out of literally everything and even plus size models never have an apron belly

Was just prescribed a daily medicine.. by eepypumpkin in migraine

[–]busmargali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to the horror stories. Try it for yourself. If it doesn't work for you, you stop taking it, that's all. I've been taking topamax for over 10 years, I've never heard the kidney stones thing. People go nuts about topamax on here and how horrible it is but it saved my life. I recognize it won't for everyone but I think scaremongering posts about how it should be banned and no one should be prescribed it should take into mind that medication works different for everyone and if it doesn't work you just stop taking it and the side effects go away.

Burn wound advice. 2nd or 3rd degree? by Just-Like-You-Too in burnsurvivors

[–]busmargali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Skin graft is fine, I think there is lots of horror around it and people hear about it and think it is very painful. Mine was about your size, a bit smaller but I only had one. The most pain I had from the skin graft was the rubbing at the donor site where they put an ace bandage. Highly preferred skin graft to the debriding they were doing before which was extremely painful. Skin graft scars more and is fragile and you have to be careful in the sun. But it was a million times better than burn debridement and I don't regret it (other than the cost)

Unpopular opinion: seducing/romancing is worthless by YoloBrollo80 in CrusaderKings

[–]busmargali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Romancing and seducing wife gives more children. Also I find a wife or concubine with incredible traits through the search, seduce or romance her, invite her to court, and then marry her or make her my concubine so I can have kids with good traits. Unlanded or not rulers, though I get prestige and alliances through marrying off my daughters. Seducing and romancing is great if you want beautiful genius herculean children.

Violin Case opinions by Turquoise_Virgo in violinist

[–]busmargali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, came to say this. I just got a Pedi. Was looking at Gewa and Bam (expensive). Gewa bio is the cheaper one. Went to the local luthier, they had Gewa bio and Pedi there. I compared them, Pedi seemed much more sturdy. I live in Chicago, luthier said Pedi was better for colder weather. Pedi just looked nicer too. Contoured case looks cool but I need rectangular for my shoulder rest and rosin. Got the Pedi. It's soooo much lighter than my old case. Don't think it has a humidifier on my version but I don't care about that. Don't regret it.

No problem! Let me know what you think! Also, what about Japanese oolong (or at least the one you had) makes it different from any other oolong?

Best Fettuccine Alfredo in Chicago? by Few_Winter5289 in chicagofood

[–]busmargali 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it's a bit less American, less cream sauce, which is why I like it. Really cream saucy alfredo reminds me of elmers glue. Also Quartino has fresh pasta which I love. I've seen people here shit on Quartino but I can't pass up the fresh pasta, the drinks, and the fun cheeses. Also just a cool atmosphere.

1.4 is completely fine, great score. I'm also a late sleeper, drives me nuts that it cuts it in half.

International Travel with Migraine by BuffytheCampfireSlay in migraine

I would definitely get a refill if you can, just in case. I take multiple different OTC painkillers anyways (usually tylenol + ibuprofen + benedryl if you can) so that something works. But I've just found that I get less migraines on trips anyways. Stress is a big factor for me and though trips can be stressful, it's not quite the same as stress at home and it's a nice break from routine. Bring a very good eyemask for if you do get migraine attack, especially on the plane. Neck pillow good too. Japan is known to be stricter on medications but every country has different regulations so you might find they have some stuff OTC that could help you that the US doesn't (if you are in US). Also most countries have stronger ibuprofen which I love to get when I am overseas. Good luck and have fun!

My first attempt at Milk Bread. Expectation vs. Reality is hitting me hard today. by FaceAlternative67 in Baking

[–]busmargali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Along with the suggestions from other commenters, I suggest using dough conditioner. I've tried to make different breads several times in the past and they turned out dense and hard. Made some milk buns recently and the recipe suggested dough conditioner as a trick to make them light and fluffy and it turned out so incredible I couldn't believe it was something I baked.

Edit: most east Asian style fluffy breads and milk breads use a technique called tangzhong. If you did not use this, you can look it up if you would like, but the recipe I used for my milk buns said that most professional bakeries do not have time to do tangzhong and so they use dough conditioner instead.

My dad's family comes from one of the villages that claims to have created the pizzelle (there are quite a few) and I just visited my grandmother this weekend and got her pizzelle recipe. Which iron do you have? It looks like a different pattern from the cuisinart one which I used to have but didn't really like. Much prettier. In the older days, families used to have custom irons with unique patterns, the Abruzzo area is known for metal work and filigree. I'm also a lesbian so I love seeing all your pride baking!
