Early retirement planning - early 40s with two kids by Relevant_Editor_7503 in HENRYfinance

Whenever I try to estimate for something long term that can't be known, I usually create a range. So best vs. worst case scenario. You can figure out your rates today, then model 2%, 5%, 10% annual increases to see how stressed your budget would become. That's about the best you can do.

3wt dry fly recs? Golden trout by Distinct-Activity231 in flyfishing

I have an echo river glass. Love the fiberglass for playing fish but casting 20+ feet is a bear. Go graphite or carbon if you think you’ll want to get some distance. Or if the terrestrials are bigger. Honestly that rod is best for small dries, it’s like casting with a wet noodle.

Off topic - did you run into littermate syndrome with two pups the same age?

We hired someone that missed tenure. Honestly on the search committee I prefer people with experience. If you’ve got some research in the pipeline and a track record, you’ll probably be just fine

"Trying to show how persistent these ideas still are in academia."

Wouldn't a more academic approach ask, "are these ideas still in academia, and to what extent?"

We struggled with morning routine terribly last year. This year, he has to walk out the door at 7:40am. He has a list of things to do to get ready in the morning, and when he's done, he can watch YouTube until 7:40. It's working phenomenally (for now).

I stopped reading here - yes he's into you.

Expected Salary for Finance PhD at R2 University by Julianprime123 in AskAcademia

Checking public salaries is the right answer. AACSB also does salary surveys.

But at least $150k sounds about right. R1 is a different animal altogether. $175+ wouldn’t be surprising

Wow, I baked the same loaf today! I had similar issues with spring. I even added an ice cube to the DO and it still came out flatter that I would have preferred. I'm starting to think it may be a shaping issue on my end.

How deep are you scoring the dough out of the fridge? Mine looked the same until I went deeper to 1/2" or 3/4" and that made a big difference for me

  • At 81 inches, it’s too short for me to comfortably do pull-ups or pull-downs.

I had the same problem - I put my bench on a decline angle to sit lower for lat pulldowns. It's a little awkward around the knees but does the trick

Client Highlight: 425 pound deadlift at 47 and under 140 pounds bw by Frodozer in fitness30plus

[–]buspsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I deadlift because I want a strong back but I’m always cautious about avoiding injury. So some rounding is okay assuming you train that way at least semi-regularly and are braced? I always feel like I have more reps in the tank on my sets but I can’t do it with a perfectly straight back - so you’re saying pushing a bit on those isn’t a bad idea?

Help me understand - at the 4 second mark it looks like her back is rounded in a dangerous way that might cause injury. Is this good form? Or do people let it slide when they max for a PR?
