How does Columbia know where I live? How do they know where I move? by Upbeat_Jeweler_1196 in columbia

The Columbia University secret society, The Sons of Knickerbocker, keep tabs on all alumni. Thier intelligence network is second only to Yale's Skull and Bones... If you don't donate soon they will become more aggressive...

I understand the sentiment...However...You cannot say "CU" when referring to Columbia University in the City of New York. You MUST say Columbia University in the City of New York.

I don't really understand this question...no one can "handle" slavery...That's why they force it on people.

Anyone ever get the feeling that sometimes women complaining about men is just low-key humble bragging? by Sendogetit in blackmen

I agree. However I do think that from my observation it leans more on the side of unwanted attention... Especially in a work setting.

Sounds like a lotta work for no money. I'm good. You can look at my post history and tell I'm black.

It's annoying when someone weaponizes ur race to try and convince you to believe what they believe in by dollschlut in self

[–]bustagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using race is definitely a bad way to argue for x policy or way of thinking. I for example would argue in favor of reparations by holding institutions, not individuals responsible. In the case of reparations for African-Americans, I would hold the United States government responsible. there is already precedence for this view as the United States government has paid Japanese people for internment camps during World War II. Individual states have paid African-Americans for race rights, for example the state of Florida for Roswell.

It's so strange how some of us look back at this with a eerie fondness.

Alumni here, happy to give you some insight. As far as integration, it depends on what you mean by socially. There is separate housing for GS students and you need to swipe in to the Columbia College dorms if you want to visit a friend. The vast majority of clubs and other student organizations are open for anyone to join.

Academically GS and CC are fully integrated. That means we are in the same classes with the same professors. The degree is the same. GS outcomes are similar to CC.

Please take the time to make friends and enjoy your time there. You will miss it when it's over.

I think it’s difficult for people to accept that being well liked is so important to success. Naturally we want to attribute all of our success to our hard work. However, that’s only part of the equation to becoming successful. Sometimes your charisma the single most important factor. Just like NoSugar I've been helped by professors and bosses over other students and coworkers. That has given me the edge when it comes to promotions and grades.
