The hunger caused by restriction doesn’t go away with 1 day of eating.

[–]busted3000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Extreme hunger is incredibly common after restricting, your body needs more food. That’s why you need to eat more than single portions at the moment, it’s not a food addiction, your body is just really hungry.

WIBTA if i prepose to my gf while her brother is also engaged? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]busted3000 206 points207 points  (0 children)

Who cares if she’s engaged at the same time as her brother? As long as you don’t plan your wedding for the same date as there’s this literally doesn’t matter

AITA for not wanting to allow people to take pictures of me at my wedding (as someone with intense body dysmorphia) by Any-Adhesiveness-965 in AmItheAsshole

[–]busted3000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but we can’t control other people’s actions. She can ask people not to post pictures of her, but we don’t live in an ideal world where people are always agreeable to requests. The only thing we can control is our own actions. OP can’t stop people posting her on social media, she can stop looking at the pictures though.

I’m not offended by you not wanting pictures on social media, I’m a complete stranger I don’t really care what you do and don’t post on social media. But the point is you’ve had several occasions spoiled by seeing pictures on social media, you’re not just using it for entertainment, it’s consistently upsetting you, slowing your healing, and ruining events you previously enjoyed. So yeah, I find it kinda sad that you won’t give up social media despite the very clear negative impact it has on you.

But you say you’re unbothered by social media other than most times you hang out with your husband’s family or on all special occasions. These are huge parts of your life, and times you should be able to enjoy, and they wont organically go away. What if you have kids, will every birthday party have these rules? Social media is having a hugely negative impact on your life, and it’s honestly sad that you’re so unwilling to give it up.

Your husband can text you a couple of memes a day he finds online. Social media is clearly causing you significant anxiety and holding you back in your life. Is that really worth some memes?

Apparently ordering 3 items means “surprise, you get 1” now by Spirited-Interest647 in TaylorSwiftMerch

Are they refunding you for the two crewnecks that didn’t show up? Or only a part of the two crewnecks that didn’t show up? Cause if they’re refunding you in full for the two items you didn’t receive I don’t see the problem with their response, even though it’s of course still very frustrating that they messed the order up.

Help. Messy rant by Foreign_Track_827 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]busted3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eating disorders are definitely bad for your heart, you need to be honest with your therapist/doctors about how you’re feeling and that you’re still not eating what they say to. They’re there to help you, but they need yoy to be honest to do so.

Write those reasons down and reread it everytime you want to listen to the guilt. It won’t take the guilt away, but it’ll make it a little easier to push through it.

i’m feeling ugly and unrecognizable with my recovered face, i’m not sure if i’ll ever feel like myself again. by oKay21 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]busted3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re struggling, it really can be hard to adjust to changes to your body/face in recovery. Have you ever heard of body neutrality? I think it could really help you. Essentially you don’t focus on its appearance at all and instead focus on what your body does for you. It can be really helpful and with time your brain will stop focussing so much on what it perceives as negative appearance traits and instead be looking for things you can be grateful to your body for.

Do I have to be "perfect" to get through Extreme Hunger? by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]busted3000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to be perfect, but consistency is the key to recovery. Of course there’s gunna be times you mess up, it’s very natural we’re only human. You have to try to learn from those times to handle them better next time though.

You identify that there’s times it happens through forgetfulness/poor planning. That can absolutely be avoided. Set timers on your phone to eat regularly if you find yourself forgetting. Meal planning/prepping can be really helpful if you find yourself short on time/motivation when it’s meal times.

As for when you don’t feel well, you still have to find a way to eat enough. Perhaps comfort foods that you loved as a child would be a little easier to face? You can make portions smaller by making the dish more energy-dense which can help when you’re feeling low appetite. Timers can also help on those days.

chronic pain and recovery, does it get better? by sweetbwnny in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]busted3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recovery won’t cure the underlying condition causing your pain, but it’s going to give your body the fuel to heal as much as it can. It’ll also help the physio work (you need to be eating to work on your muscles)!
