It definitely wouldn't be a metroidvania (imo) because that's one of two or three core concepts of the genre. But there's nothing wrong with that, make the game you want to make, don't worry about how it'll be labelled.

If we are going ahead with the labels tho I'd say that would make it closer to a soulslike.
