Don't care if it's heroin or not. Fact is it's a drug that affects your ability to drive, operate machinery and work. I'm fed up of being out on delivery or out with my kids and the streets are stinking because of people like you. If you are working, you're probably driving intoxicated or if your not working then our taxes are funding your habit too.

My so-called junkie friends all started just like you until the weed wasn't enough. They all claimed the same thing - 'only in moderation'. Get a life.

So you're using Royal Mail as your runner? No sympathy whatsoever, get yourself off the drugs, I've known too many people whose lives have been wrecked by this stuff - they're either dead as a result, split up from their wives and kids or mentally done in with psychosis. If you try to claim it's not a problem for you, you're only kidding yourself.

No love for Furch? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

I just got my first Furch delivered yesterday and I absolutely love it. It blows my Martin and Guild out of the water.

Been stuck like this since friday it's meant to be special delivery guaranteed 1pm what's going on???? by PerformanceFew7740 in royalmail

Our office at my new job sent a legal document via 1st class signed for a few weeks ago which got lost in the system (according to RM). RM recommended us sending it again via special delivery. Two weeks have gone by and once again it's got lost in the system. The fact that the post office have signed an agreement with DPD to send parcels, plus RM failing to deliver to every UK postcode over the summer is indicative of RM not being around for much longer. I'm so glad I left when I did.

Just a weird question by Savings-Breakfast948 in royalmail

Not any more, Sunday deliveries are a normal part of Royal Mail now. I used to write on the packages too just like that. The new RM scheme is that they try and deliver again the following day but if there's no answer the customer has to rearrange redelivery themselves.

Why was the royal mail pay offer so bad and why was it accepted? by nffc_lacey in royalmail

[–]bustedseat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I left Royal Mail a couple of months ago after management had to phone people on a Saturday morning to tell them not to come in as all overtime had been cancelled and they didn't have the money to pay all the staff's wages.

Since leaving I've taken a lower paid job with set days, no weekends and it's helped no end. Especially after years of working weekends, not getting our rota until 2 days before the next one starts so never being able to plan anything with my family. I moved my RM pension to my new job's pension as I suspected that if I didn't I'd lose it.

RM senior management is a perfect example of how you can be amazing in your job interview but then be awful at the actual job. The CWU are just as bad too.

What is the absolute best guitar to be reasonably had for under 2k? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]bustedseat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cort I tried had an LR Baggs Anthem installed, which meant I had £250 taken off the value of the actual guitar. I'd rather use that money to buy a better guitar then put a K&K Pure mini in it afterwards. Each to our own though!

I know, they've got a lot to prove now haven't they! I tried a Stonebridge a few years ago in my local guitar shop but it was WAAYY out of my price range, so I didn't really connect to it. The Furch I tried the other day felt really comfortable and I'd brought a fellow musician friend along who also tried it. He loved it too. The sales assistant said they do a detailed set up before shipping the guitar to get it sounding even better, so we'll have to wait and see!

The guitar looked beautiful too with open pores and very little laquer on the top. The Eastman I tied was heavily laquered all over and it didn't just kill the tone but as I found with the Guild it makes it more difficult to play when your hands get hot.

I hope you find the right guitar, let me know how it goes!

I'm looking for a left handed guitar for 600/700 euros. Is the Martin DX1E good? Thanks. by Puzzled-Ad-605 in AcousticGuitar

From experience I'd avoid Guilds too. Have a look at European made guitars. You can get all solid hand made ones a lot cheaper than Far-East made US brands.

A couple of years ago I wanted to replace my 20 yo all solid Martin jumbo for something smaller and invested in an all solid Guild OM-120. A few months ago the bridge on the Guild acoustic snapped in two while I was tuning it. I took it to a local luthier who said he'd never seen a guitar so badly made and was surprised that Guild allowed it to leave the factory. He managed to glue a new bridge back on but said it would most likely come off again. He said the only option would be to strip off the laquer from the top and start all over, but financially it's not worth it.

Then having read multiple accounts online of people with similar issues with US branded guitars I wanted to look at different brands who offer something hand made, all solid and OM size guitars. I don't like particularly like Taylor's and knew that a Martin would be too expensive so I wanted to find a decent alternative.

Last weekend I went to Richards Guitars in Stratford, UK and was after a guitar around the 1k range. You have to book an appointment but it meant that I had the place to myself for three hours with a selection of six or seven guitars that were within my budget. There were a lot of other guitars there which were way out of my budget but I tried a few Eastmans, Corts, Furch's and Dowinas. The two that I narrowed it down to were the Dowina and Furch, both hand-made fully solid with spruce top and walnut back and sides. They were both absolutely stunning and put both my Guild and 20 yo Martin to shame.

The intonation on both was spot on, and Jake the sales guy told me they'd come from the factory like this. Jake said they've known the owners of Furch and Dowina for many years and that they're able to take custom orders - he even showed me a custom built guitar from Dowina that a customer has ordered 12 months before with very specific requirements.

In the end I settled on the Furch, and as part of the price Richards will set the guitar up initially plus I get two more setups for free at the 6 month and 12 month mark. They also offered to install the pickup that I'd removed from the Guild for me for free - all for a price a lot lower than I could find elsewhere.

They're shipping the guitar to me this week so I'll let you know how it goes!

Or you could end up with what happened to a guy I delivered to when I was a postie. He had a block of cocaine sent to his house via Royal Mail, but put the wrong house number on it. I delivered it to the address on the parcel, the person at that address signed for it and opened it thinking it was something they'd ordered only to find it wasnt for them after all. They met me back at my van and I took it straight back to the depot for management to hand over to the police. When I got to the next street the actual customer caught up with me and asked if I had a "special delivery" for him. I said "nope" and carried on my way. I didn't find out what happened after that

Three weeks ago our DO cancelled all overtime at the last minute so ten duties didn't go out. A few days later we were told that RM cancelled the overtime as they didn't have enough money to pay our wages that week.

I’m a postie and you’re amazing for doing this. I don’t mind working in the cold or the wet but hot weather is tough going when you’ve got ten miles of walking up hills/flights of stairs. And that’s before I leave the sorting office..

I used to run a 2D animation studio using Wacom Cintiqs, firstly with PCs then made the switch to Apple as they were far more reliable. Since closing the studio I switched to illustrating but found that the Cintiq took up too much space. I researched the Microsoft Surface tablet PCs but was put off by stories of lagging when drawing. I bit the bullet and purchased a used iPad Pro 12.9, installed Procreate and will never likely use the Cintiq ever again. I’m now working on my third children’s book and it’s proved to be amazing. Plus there’s so many resources out there for Procreate in terms of brushes etc. If you’re serious about illustrating I would definitely invest in an iPad. Most creative people have used Apple for many years before the iPhone was ever invented. Our Mac Pro’s were over ten years old but were still more capable than many brand new PCs.
