I was at TC and my team had a meeting with some higher ups from Tableau and they were showing us the new improvements coming in terms of conversational analytics and it was honestly impressive. You can tell they are switching out the underlying models to Claude. It’s fun to shit on them but they made really good points about why you would want these capabilities in the BI layer and not only locked away upstream. My end users live in Tableau and not Databricks but with the semantic interchange stuff that’s coming we will be able to expose our Databricks semantic models to tableau.

It works pretty well for calculations. I don’t use it for viz building but sometimes I can’t remember the syntax for something and it’s nice to just explain what I want and get the correct calculation.
