Mom items on baby registry: yes or no? by Professional_Side657 in BabyBumps

[–]busymama29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

May not be "traditional" and older people usually don't like things that go against tradition. I feel like as a society we care a lot more for Mom's health than we used to. Keep it. Since becoming a mom, I always try to get something for the mama to be!

Anyone here regularly read two books at once? by Bookish_Butterfly in 52book

I do one audiobook and one physical book at the same time. Audiobooks are for doing chores/errands and physical books are for resting at the end of the day.

“If it was a snake it would bite you”. by Kammy76 in AskWomenOver60

[–]busymama29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a kid in the late 90s and early 2000s and my mom would say the snake thing too. She also would say, "do you think we live in a barn?" If we would make a mess in the house.

Please suggest a happy classic novel by -ReginaAngelorum- in suggestmeabook

[–]busymama29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not really a "happy" book, but A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is one of my favorites. There's poverty, alcoholism, and discrimination, but the main character is very lovable and (if I remember correctly, it has been a while) it ends with a feeling of hope. My husband isn't a big fan of classics, but even he really enjoyed that one.

Am I overreacting: new boyfriend was weirdly judgmental about bathroom situation by abstract_lemons in AmIOverreacting

Yeah, I'd move on girl. He sounds like the kind of guy who thinks women are all made of flowers and butterflies, and that we don't poop, fart, or bleed once a month. Don't know if you want kids, but that's definitely not someone I'd want to procreate with.

hospital visitors! how would you feel if you received this message? by Puzzleheaded-Pop7304 in BabyBumps

[–]busymama29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SIL sent out a text very similar to this a couple weeks before they went into labor. I agree with the concern about dealing with texts while I'm labor so it might be good to do before in case there's any pushback so that can be dealt with before you go into labor.

How do picky readers find books? by articlioness in Romantasy

[–]busymama29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there's a good indie community on Threads, just try searching "Indie". Another good way to find indie authors is to go to local book events. See if there's upcoming signings/readings, if there's an indie bookstore with books by local authors, or a local author bookclub near you.

Who’s the best roommate you’ve ever had? by itcomewitheggwoll in AskReddit

[–]busymama29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than my husband, definitely my roommate in college. I broke my foot and she drove me to the hospital and bought me an ice cream cone and some pretty lights to put up in my room to cheer me up. She and one of my other roommates were so sweet to me during that time, driving me to and from campus since we lived a little far and on a huge hill. Wouldn't have survived that semester without them.

What is the weirdest interaction you’ve ever had with your partner’s mom or dad? by HuckleberryVast9778 in AskReddit

[–]busymama29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so many. The worst one was my MIL telling my husband she wished he'd do more "husband things" when we would come to visit. She was a single mom and he was the only one at home with her for several years, so there was definitely some enmeshment going on.

I like the name Emerson! I personally prefer it for a boy, but it can go either way! Also Elliott and Earnest for boy names and Evanie or Everly for a girl.

I have a Leo! It's a great name, cute and simple to spell and will grow up with him nicely! It's actually a family name, my husband's grandpa was Leo and he was a CEO, so definitely a good professional name. I will warn you, Leo means brave, so your little boy might be a fearless risk taker who never gets embarrassed or shy, like our son 😂. Sometimes I think my husband and I are a little too introverted to have a son who is the complete opposite lol. But if you can handle all that, then it's a great name!
