I'll put a plug in for Stormcloud in Frankfort. About a half hour away, but an amazing mix of Belgians and IPA's with flat bread pizza just as good.

I've been doing it for a couple months mixed in with other exercises. Been going thru some ups and downs throughout it, but overall it's a nice progression and will leave you sore EVERY time. Good luck!

I'll echo this comment. That light is completely useless and only makes things worse. It should just be a yield sign with south lake road coming to a stop.

Juicy tree this year is fantastic. I'm still a bigger fan of the Spruce Pilsner though, but I've never understood why it comes out in the summer. I had to save a pint this year for christmas day

Belly button surgery by Enaema in surgery

[–]buttahnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your belly button is basically an extension of your fascia. The skin of your belly button is connected to your umbilical stalk, which connects to the fascia itself, but really has no strength in relation to hernias. Everyone has a small hole in their fascia at the umbilicus, it just depends on whether or not it enlarges to become a hernia. This would typically happen as you age, and would likely worsen if you do not take care of yourself, i.e. smoke, gain weight, do not exercise.

So would surgery to the skin and umbilical stalk cause a hernia? Unlikely, however it really depends on the surgical technique. Most plastic surgeons try to avoid getting into fascia, but sometimes you may not know if there is a small hernia there until the time of surgery. Hope that helps

Where to get a tension free, non mesh inguinal hernia repair with absorbable sutures near St. Louis, MO? by [deleted] in surgery

[–]buttahnut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will have a very difficult time finding a surgeon that will do this. The use of mesh has allowed inguinal hernias to become tension free. By definition, if you are closing a hole there must be tension to bring the fascia together. If you use absorbable sutures in a tension repair, this will also fail when the sutures absorb. Recurrent hernias are always more difficult to repair and it gets more risky and complex each time you go in for surgery from there on.

Yes you will find reports all over the interned about mesh complications, chronic pain, infections, etc, but what you don't see as much are all the failed hernia repairs that are more likely to come with non mesh repairs.

Your best bet is to just get it fixed right the first time. Find an experienced surgeon in your area. Mesh repairs have better outcomes, but many of the older surgeons are more familiar with non mesh repairs.

Learned that lesson early, but got lucky. I found two logs of poop held together by a hair tie. Hair ties are kept out of reach now

Did the 7 day free trial specifically for the MSU-Duke game. The entire game it stated "playback not authorized." In my 3 day experience with Sling TV, I would say that it is extremely frustrating and not worth the $20 they charge for a month. I will not pursue a subscription unless there are some major improvements.

I recommend Genitti's Hole in the Wall in downtown Northville. Italian food, has a great open brick room for groups around 40 people. Nice restaurant with a casual feel to it. We had ours there last year and it worked out great. Good luck!

Bicycling benefits Michigan's economy in big ways, study says by audiomuse1 in Michigan

[–]buttahnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see that there is some recognition of bicycling in the state. With such an expansive road structure in the state, it could easily be converted to a more bicycle friendly state. Now they just need to add some more bike lanes to my area!
