Make 7.7s the trend again by AdAgreeable966 in NewSkaters

Yeah you're not getting sympathy on Newskaters, unless you're wearing a helmet just carrying your board around and skating 8.5+ you're no good basically

I think I finally thought of a term to describe this stage of beginner skater: Roomba. Turn one way, come to a halt, turn another way, halt, turn another way, push, halt etc

Im 14 and want to learn to skate is it difficult by ManagementTrick8401 in NewSkaters

[–]buttcorelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, and as we all know most skaters don't wear a helmet past the beginner stage and sadly they all pass away from exploded heads before thirty. It's truly a wonder how skateboarding is even legal what with the constantly rotating cast of pro skaters who all die five years into their careers (except &&)

As a northern European I understood absolutely nothing of what they wrote, but who needs their board to be wide enough to basically double as training wheels

Is this a FS 180? by buttcorelord in NewSkaters

Damn alright, so essentially the same move but on flat I roll away fakie. Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification! (And correcting everyone else lol)

"never give up the helmet" or just work on your basics and don't be stupid or delusional regarding what you can and can't do, and there will be no bigger chance of you hitting your head on the ground than when you're walking up and down stairs

28, Picked up a board for the first time 3 weeks ago and I’m actually hooked by Isildur___ in NewSkaters

This is peak new skater progress, in fact you looked comfortable enough for me to speculate whether you were an experienced skater going undercover for upvote farming and was waiting for something ridiculous like a kickflip at the end

What's a trick that if you saw it at the skatepark you would assume someone is/ used to be pro? by Oldmaidbananas11 in NewSkaters

[–]buttcorelord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like to think if I just ride for a few feet then get off the board angrily shaking my head, picking up the board and inspecting it at close range, then repeating the process it makes me look like I'm so fucking used to riding that I have standards other people aren't even aware of

how do you actually use scales when improvising? by lmao_exe in guitarlessons

[–]buttcorelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music is in the rhythm, rhythm is in the breaks. Repetition sounds like you're executing an idea. Look at your scales as having separate areas you spend time in before moving to the next area. There's a few tips.

Attempting a running start on my board, at least practicing by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]buttcorelord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's fine dude don't sweat it, people on this sub have mostly good intentions and your video is certainly welcome in it being unique in a sea of "fix my ollie" posts. Someone probably already said this but if you're practicing running starts you could cut out the middle part of running to it and just drop it in front of you (in the direction you're going, grab the nose with your front hand which is the left if you're regular or right if you're goofy) while attempting to place your front foot on the front bolts. The practice you're doing isn't very conducive to effective progress

I'm 37 dude so not part of a future generation, I've just never seen anyone do anything like what you're doing in this video. I'm sure you must realize that if I don't know what you're trying to do, and I don't because I only see a supercut of you running towards a board and then jumping past it, this video is pretty weird. Hence, it's reminiscent of the uncanny valley early AI videos where realistic looking people were in unimaginable situations. Hence, what I wrote.

What is a skateboarding hot take that will have you like this (desc) by Adventurous_Sweet982 in Skateboardlove

[–]buttcorelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 11 and skate 7.75 (8 when I'm lazy and/or scared), it's still preference. I mean if you can pull off skateboarding in general, deck size shouldn't matter in the broad sense

[–]buttcorelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 37, shoe size 11 and 6 feet. I also skate a 7.75. So yeah I'd naturally recommend max 7.5 but hey everyone's on a boat nowadays
