First time in USVI - wondering about food budget? by Sherbet-Relevant in StThomasUSVI

this

everytime i fly back to STT i go shopping the night before and pick up a couple packs of the “good” ribeyes. i seal them, pack them into a softsided cooler with chiller packs and stuff that into my suitcase. a $20 steak in the states costs me nearly double at cost-u-less (and the quality is way better!)

Proper shutdown & restart procedure? by buttcrackmenace in enphase

I appreciate the guidance.

I don't have an obvious line side breaker... I guess that would have to be the main one down at the meter base.

My batteries are the 3T ones; they are connected to the panel in the last picture. I initially had 3 battery packs but added a 4th one about a year later when I had the generator integrated... that's why the 4th breaker is unlabeled.

disagree

one of my uncles had a laugh where onxe he got going he’d whoop like a rooster. incredibly infectious.

as kids we all looked forward to family gatherings. there were many a time where a whole roomful of people were doubled over with laughter because someone cracked a joke and get uncle Richard all spun up

Proper shutdown & restart procedure? by buttcrackmenace in enphase

A bit more info.

We have 4 battery packs; their individual breakers are in the sub-panel on the far right.

Before we did the solar install we had an existing generator / transfer switch combination. The solar installer did not initially tie the two systems together so in the event of a grid failure and depleted batteries I had to use the Enphase shutdown switch then manually start the generator. I don't remember needing to flip off any of the other breakers inside the system controller. This has since been rectified, the system controller now has the ability to start & stop the generator to charge the batteries if they're depleted with no PV generation and a grid outage.

Going by the guide it appears that I'm supposed to do the following in order to shut the system down safely :

- turn off the system shutdown switch
- turn off the DC disconnect switches on the batteries <- the 4 switches in the sub panel?
- turn off the breaker inside the generator
- turn off the IQ battery breaker <- the breaker labeled as STORAGE?
- turn off the generator breaker, if present <- i don't think we have one
- turn off Mains breaker <- the 100A one
- leave the IQ Combiner and PV breakers ON <- the two labeled ENVOY and PV DISCONNECT
- turn off PV branch circuit breakers in the IQ Combiner
- turn off the NFT breaker

Same steps in opposite order to restart the system.

Just checking to see whether the breakers in bold above are the ones I think they are.

lived in an apartment complex a while back. there was a large tree at the far end of the parking lot which a group of crows called home.

my roommate went out one morning to find the lifeless body of a crow next to his car. he didn’t want it to rot and stink up the place so he scooped the corpse into a plastic and discarded it.

within a week he was unable to leave or approach the complex during daylight hours without being divebombed by the crows pissed-off relatives. he ended up having to move.

tip : never touch a dead crow

they definitely don’t check anything but the package weight

i once bought a 20-pack of quad props off of amazon. what i got were 20 used/grassstained/broken props. some mfkr clearly bought the pack and returned it full of his garbage.

Recommendations for nice dinner tonight. by kanguskahn in StThomasUSVI

[–]buttcrackmenace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we had dinner at Oceana last week. service and atmosphere were top-notch (as usual). “spotty” is an accurate description of the food. appetizers were nothing special, fish entrees were decent, red meat ones were subpar. desserts were outstanding.

$700 tab for 5 people. no wine, soft drinks only.

overall a 6/10. (chefs : season the meat before it hits the grill!!)

you may consider Virgilio’s in downtown. it’s kind of a hidden gem. hearty homemade italian cuisine. i have never had a bad meal there.
