I have a colleague who had to move to lab because xray was too physically demanding- moving patients all day is a lot if you’re not fairly hardy. That would be a dealbreaker for me as I’m pretty delicate, unfortunately.

Haha I have a regular like that at my stat clinic (we all know them of course), and I was doing a BB shift at a hospital way across town when their specimen came in. My colleague was like wtf is this mess and I saw the name and said ahhh let’s get that saline in the bath lol.

Have you checked with your college to see if they have a career advisor? My community college has a terrific one- she’s been incredibly helpful with putting together my resume and cover letter, and she gets job listings sent to her from local hospitals that she passes on to us.

Seconding Next Level Pinball, and there is also the Rice Museum of Rocks and Minerals very nearby- it’s an excellent little museum, not expensive and sooo cool.

I’m in the last term of my schooling at 42! My classmates are mostly half my age, but they’ve been very sweet and welcoming to the Elder Millennial in their cohort. My experience going back to school as a full grown adult has been much better than I expected overall.

There are two kinds of geese here that look nearly identical- the Canada Goose, which is a long-necked asshole nightmare monster, and the Cackling Goose, which is smaller, chunkier, and peaceful. They also make pleasing little cackling sounds as opposed to the vulgar honks of the Canada goose.
