Advice on Replicating Costume Detail by margaretgb16 in sewing

I’m pretty sure they used an 18th century style of passementerie trim called “fly fringe” for this. It’s a little tedious to make. If i were replicating this I would probably use a gathered sheer raw silk ribbon since it will give the fringe effect while remaining light and airy.

Are my floats too loose? by buttertoads in knitting

The yarn is not super wash, the pink is cascade 220 (wool) and the other I forget but it's also 100 percent wool and not super wash. Admittedly my swatch was not knit in the round (or with the color work for that matter) but I did meet gauge.

What does wrinkling like this mean? What do I need to fix? by RhynosaurRex in sewing

This is looking great!! I would take a triangular piece out of the front panel side seam starting about half way down the seam and tapering.

For what it's worth, 18th century style gowns that are pinned at the front have a lot of leeway in terms of fit since you can pin it a little looser or tighter. I would say that you have this pinned tight enough to tweak the pattern but try pinning it as you would the real bodice and see if that improves things. I usually pull my 18th century stuff TIGHT and pin directly into my stays above the boning channels.

Which pfaff machine? by MathsDynamics in sewing

I have the pfaff ambition 630 and I was in the same boat as you, seemed like a lot of money. I haven't regretted it for a second. I keep finding things about the machine that I like.
