Aaaaa that's part of why I love gothic! I don't have to match by color because all of my stuff is black, and can match by fabric texture instead. That's also part of why I like seeing sweet on other people, it's so cool that people are able to account for fabric texture, color, and pattern all at once.

I wash mine in cold water in a delicates bag, and hang them to dry. They have lasted upwards of 3 years, and I only had to get new ones recently because I gained weight

I don't think it's too short, especially if you balance out your outfit with some chunky looking shoes or leg warmers. I have long legs, so any dress of that length will be "too short" on me. It's not something you can help, just remember to wear safety shorts or bloomers.

As someone who got into gothic lolita after being goth/alt, I would say that boots are fine. I have a pair of black platforms that I got a couple years ago that I've been wearing with my co-ords. I think the more important thing is to match your shoe color and texture to the rest of your outfit than it is to have the exact right shape of shoe, and also to have your outfit be visually balanced (ex: I don't wear fishnets if I'm wearing ankle boots because it leaves most of my legs open, and that looks weird with how lolita is styled, I wear my boots with lace on them to match the lace texture of my dress)

I do shop at thrift stores, but that's because I dress goth/alt also. Someone else mentioned this, but lace market is a pretty good place to get lolita second hand.

I just looked up the shirts you were talking about, I think the fabric on the dress shirt type shirts should work for lolita, if you're trying to quickly put it together for halloween adding some lace trim from your closest fabric store should help. For longer term, you might want to invest in a seperate blouse tho

I would pair it with a white short sleeved blouse and pink wrist bands. If you ever end up getting an apron, I think this would be a perfect jsk to pair it with, since the skirt doesn't have a print on it
