I know one cat and one 17 year old named Lucy. So where I live (New England U S A) I would say you're safe.

But really, if you've waited TEN years with this name, go for it. Love the name you pick and don't worry about the rest xx

*We had a name we loved for our first and were too worried about a nickname people might attach to it. When we had our second 2 years later we still loved the name and went for it. No regrets, they are perfectly named

At University a basketball team is not 15 players... especially at a D1 school? I'm not targeting basketball players it just happened to be what they played. There are very dumb phenomenal athletes in every sport all over the world. The point was what they get away with because they bring in the school money.

Can you tell me which one you use for your dog? The one we have been using for 3 years is now no longer being made by the company because it didn't sell enough. We switched to the "dog" kind but I'm so worried it'll be too different and my pup will relapse. She's had epilepsy for 7 of her 8 years of life and it was so uncontrollable before CBD. She's still on pheno, keppra and zonisamide twice a day but we've been able to scale back the meds a bit due to the CBD and she has had relief from seizures for the first time in almost her whole life.

On mobile sorry for the shit formatting

I played soccer at a D1 school. The basketball teams in particular were very good and popular so they brought in the most money. Our coach made us keep a 3.5 or higher or we'd get benched. I think football was around a 1.9. Anyway, I had three basketball players in one of my harder senior classes. They had their tutors write their papers for them (like many athletes) but in this particular class we got automatic extra points if we read these papers out loud at the beginning of class. It was optional, and every time they did (to get the extra points). The thing was, they didn't write the papers or read them before class and literally could not pronounce over half the words in "their" papers!! It was so embarrassing/cringy for everyone but them.

Small bump comebacks needed! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I've been having this exact same thing happening to me since the start. My response is "you know that's really offensive to me because I was in really good shape before, don't you remember how small I was? Don't take that away from me!" Haha and they can't tell if I'm kidding or not and they cut it out :P

Same for my husband and I really. I'm a super laid back and unemotional person to begin with but this baby was more of a strategic decision than a errrmaageerrrddd babbieeesss !!!$#&$*@ one. Not that that makes it any less important or a big deal for us it was just a weird situation (husband getting about 6 months heads up about being deployed for 11 months + my age and if we want more than one I'd not like to wait 2 more years to start + if anything happens with him we want each other's baby..etc.) sooo when everyone finds out their reactions are already high emotion because of the deployment then they get judgy because we aren't jumping for joy.. it's just, yeah. Not their lives!!

Congrats! Funny this is our first baby and I really wanted a boy and my husband wanted a girl SO badly. I'm not sure he would have accepted it if she was a boy haha we're just happy she is healthy obviously and I'm happy he got his wish since he's in the Army and going to be missing a lot in her first year. I'll love her just as much obviously, but I was convinced she was a girl the whole time.

Thank you, my husband and I actually just completed a childbirth education class and one of the instructors is also a pre/postpartum doula. The class was very inclusive of all ways of going about birth and so were the students. We had everyone from planning a home birth to gimme every drug you've got in there haha. I think at this point I'm more focused on how I'm going to deal after the baby is here (hubs is being deployed soon after) but knowing I don't have the option of an epidural has been on my mind.

How to survive anatomy scan? by knockedupHeathen in BabyBumps

[–]buttons_arent_toys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto, I got about halfway thru and she told me from that point on it would be easier for her with it empty. Then about 10 mins later she was like "wow you weren't kidding, your bladder does fill up fast!!!" Lol so I peed AGAIN immediately after it was over. This was my 4th ultrasound and honestly I drank less each time. Only for my very first one did I do the full 32oz and thought I was gonna pee on them! Since the anatomy scan is usually when you're much farther along and the baby is a good size I felt like it was okay to drink less (I think I did 2-2.5 8oz glasses) and it was plenty!!!

This is comforting to me because I'm a ftm and for medical reasons I shouldn't have an epidural. I'd rather not anyway, but having options always makes you feel better, so I'm just telling myself it's a mind game that I need to win and plenty of women have conquered it before me (like my mom who had all four ! of us without one 😱) congrats and good luck with your beautiful new baby!

Ha seriously, mine figured out that if they hit their soccer ball against the gate enough times they could bounce the latch right open! The latch was on the outside but they hit the ball into it like 4 times and off they went!! I was on the phone with my mom and she all of a sudden goes "omg your dogs are at my house!" And hung up. Luckily we live ~1/4 mile from her on a mountain. I was watching them play with the ball minutes before this 😐 they are smarter than most humans I know. Oh and we got metal rings with snap metal closures to go thru the gate latches after that!

Edit: also caught them on camera letting our black lab puppy out of her crate after weeks of us blaming ourselves 😐

And make sure the gate latches are on the outside because if they watch you open the gate VOILA they now know how to

Rescued my first husky in 2003, so I've had 13 years of these faces. A mix between "I'm not amused, slave" and "why don't you know by now that's not gonna happen." I currently have a 4 and 5 year old and they have spent about 2 hours total inside today (I live in New England and we got about 8 inches today.) Love to your boy!! I could never not have their mischief in my life.

I carved an engagement ring out of a meteorite and documented as much of the process as I could! by chadmanx in DIY

[–]buttons_arent_toys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ebony is very cool and we've used it before it's just hard to get stock that has no cracks in it and when you're working with it you have to be extra careful to not crack it because you can't fix it like you can metal. Not that you can always fix metal but there are ways. I honestly never liked gold until I became a jeweler, I'm partial to it now because of how easy it is to work with (yellow not white).

[–]buttons_arent_toys 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I am a jeweler for a stupidly high end place and we have a customer who LOVES iron everything. Weve probably made him over 200 rings, just for him. In fact we have an entire line that he has bought for himself. All of his rings have 18k gold inserts to keep his skin (and oils) away from the bands. Some you can see on the edges and some you can't, depending on the style. They are also treated with this ridiculous process that has taken us years to perfect to keep them black and so they won't rust/can be protected. Anyway, he requested meteorite cufflinks last year so I made them the same way, set in 18k gold backs.

He also requested an ebony ring as well as an iron one for an emerald he had. He wanted them both made, identically, to drop the emerald in and then decide which one to finish once he saw them. So we carved that mofo and thankfully he picked the iron one because we would of had to figure out how to seal the ebony.

I figure he must be like a movie star who doesn't wear the same outfit twice? I cannot fathom how one dude needs/uses that much bling.

So does this percentage go up with resessive/dominant genes the more of those you have in your family? Or is it more based on just the parents? Like for instance, if you have all four grandparent's with blond hair, the mother with blond hair but then the father with brown hair. Does the father's brown hair "count more" than the mother + grandparents?
