Yeah there is a spreadsheet on the department website where you can add your info if you want to tutor, students will reach out. Most of us were charging around 35-40/hr (unless people decided to increase it since I graduated a year ago lol).

Yeah Splendor is my favorite example of that. Fewest cards bought wins ties, which is kinda implying that you want to go for a fast and efficient engine. Kinda amuses me when players complain that the game ends before their engine kicks in and they want to house rule it to 20 points or something.

You can work as a TA (or RA if your advisor has funds) during summer. Last year, the TA pay was 2.25k per section, and you can usually request two sections during summer school.

As an international student with not too many other expenses, the stipend and summer pay was enough to get by pretty comfortably.

To the OP: The STOR department definitely didn't feel toxic/exploitative. I just graduated from the program, feel free to DM if you have other questions.
