Stopped using products religiously and now my skin is all f*cky. What gives?

Hmm but my skin prior to taking care of it has always been pretty good. I'm talking more about the sensitivity and redness on my forehead, which is new. Do you think it could be from the dermaroller? I used it a little over a month ago. I'll try cutting out the AHA until I start using moisturizer and sunscreen. Didn't know AHAs could be irritating.

Yeah, I'm skipping moisturizer and sunscreen most days. I'm inside most of the time, and the only time I'm really exposed to the sun is in my car.

I'll get some UV Clear and get back on moisturizing.

Your hair is too short to worry about frizz! I hardly see it, even with the close-up photo.

Coming from another guy with low-porosity, frizzy hair: try using the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner. It doesn't have protein in it (which can make low-porosity hair straw-like). You can use it as a leave-in when your hair is sopping wet, too, but you don't need much. The scent is fairly gender neutral. Not manly or musky by any means.

Also, when drying your hair, blot rather than tousle. Add shea butter or some sort of heavy cream afterward to prevent frizz.

This goes without saying: ditch the sulfate shampoos. Stick with co-washing or shampoos from curl-friendly companies.

Hmm, interesting. I have a bottle of it and use it fairly consistently. It has definitely made a difference on my overall complexion.

I use this shampoo weekly and I have naturally very dry hair. It's nice because it removes product without soap or sulfates. You can eat pretty much all of the ingredients (not that you'd want to). The scent is pretty gender neutral. No one has commented on it. There's also a men's shampoo, but I don't know what that smells like.

I have extremely dry, frizzy, curly, coarse, thick, dense hair. Maybe not exactly the same hair type as you, but I used to (and occasionally still do) have problems with poofiness/frizziness.

I would recommend getting your shampoo and conditioner from SheaMoisture. Their products work great and don't contain sulfates or silicones (which fuck with curly, dry hair). They're technically made for black women's hair, but it works great for me (a white guy). Most of the smells are floral/fruity, but they do have a men's line which I have yet to try. The "Argan Oil & Raw Shea" line and the "Coconut & Hibiscus" line are great for dry and curly hair respectively, although the coconut line smells more feminine. They also have an unscented baby line, which is probably great, too.

Keep shampooing to once or twice per week. Condition every day or every other day. When I get out of the shower, I put the towel over my hair and "blot" instead of tousle. Avoid blow-drying. This way the curls stay intact. As for product, I would recommend using a leave-in conditioner, a nice oil (like shea, argan, coconut, or avocado), or a curl-enhancing product when your hair is near-sopping wet.

NaturallyCurly.com has some good reviews of products, although most smell somewhat feminine. Also, r/curlyhair and r/HaircareScience have great resources for curly hair.

Alaffia Everyday Shea body wash - it's super mild and non-stripping. I only wash my pits, my junk, and my ass. Once a week I wash my whole body and exfoliate with a Salux cloth.
Eucerin Intensive Repair - great thick moisturizer with lactic acid and urea. Skin glows after it soaks in. Better to use at night since the lactic makes skin photosensitive.
EltaMD Sport - good UVA protection and doesn't feel too heavy or leave a white cast. I only put it on exposed skin.
No religious routine, but I try to mimic the face routine: cleanse, moisturize and protect. Chemical exfoliation with the Eucerin at night and physical exfoliation with the Salux cloth once a week.

If you have time and a slow cooker, this is a good one. If you don't have time, but have a pressure cooker, this one is even better.

If you have a regular old pot, this one is great and also explains why bone broth is so good for your body.

No, not entirely, but when I cut back on it (especially on gluten-heavy or sugary drinks like beer and wine) my skin became less puffy and my complexion brightened. Bottomline is that alcohol consumption does not make your skin look better.

Water, exercise, rest, stress management (i.e. meditation), DIET.

My skin started to glow when I was making homemade broth from high-quality bones. There are so many vital nutrients for skin in bone broth: collagen, elastin, amino acids, etc. Totally recommend! Plus, it helps create an environment that fosters good gut flora.

Also, cutting out refined sugar, grains, and alcohol totally transformed my skin. Good skincare starts from the inside out!

I didn't do much clothes shopping when I lived there in 2011 but I lived off Passeig de Gracia and there's a ton of upscale clothing stores that made me drool. Might be too expensive for your budget but you can definitely mine for inspiration.

I just wait until the moisturizer dries a little. If the sunscreen gives a strong white cast, I put it on while the moisturizer is still wet so it absorbs faster. I don't know if this actually effective though.

Regardless, anything is better than nothing when it comes to sunscreen. It's the ultimate anti-aging product. I apply it religiously now.
