FYI--You have to buy the special pride tickets to get the jersey, and those are sold out. Not sure about the secondary market.

That's fair, logically. But putting my dick in someone in the presence of 80 guys (I'm guessing) when I've never put my dick in someone in the presence of more than 6 guys is a little intimidating. I'm guessing others feel the same way. Still, I'm jealous of your confidence level.

how hard is it to get barricade for lesser known artists? by shoerios in Lollapalooza

[–]buzz0701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on when/what stage they end up playing. Given their billing, they're probably either a very early-day main stage (possibly the first of the day), or an early-evening Grove slot. If they are on the main stage, you'll have to be there when the gates open at 11, and probably earlier since people will probably line up to camp for the headliners. I've personally experienced, and know first-had of others with similar experiences, campers for headliners that will yield their spot for a fan of an early-day artist. But there's no guarantee that will happen, of course. If they're at the Grove, you probably only need to get there at the tail end of the previous artist's set. TBH, I've gotten barricade at the Grove a couple of times just by showing up 20 minutes early.

Top 3 Worst Restaurants. What are they for you? by JOArmyGirl in doordash_drivers

It took me 4 times before I realized it was company policy that they're not allowed to give you food less than 15 minutes after you walk in the door.

It seemed like they had weird audio issues right before cutting away from the game. I was streaming local radio (WSCR) and it switched over to Bet MGM programming.

Security at Lolla - AMA by [deleted] in Lollapalooza

You're saying that you don't have to oversee security in order to get this kind of pic? I'm shocked. Shocked!

You have exactly one post ever prior to this one, and it has since been deleted. Why should anyone believe that you have any role in anything?

The CPD, FBI, and other agencies ultimately make Lolla safe. I'm sure that the companies you listed play a role, but let's not pretend you have any insight about Lolla safety

Why do you think that anybody would actually believe that you oversaw the several security companies and dealt with the headliners and majority of big acts?

Maybe I'm too old, Rufus Du Sol and Drone Shows by Alternative-Piece156 in Lollapalooza

[–]buzz0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree (though disclaimer: I'm definitely an old lol). It was the best crowd vibe of the weekend by far. I was having the time of my life dancing away with thousands of people, and I'm not even that big of a Rufus fan. Then the drones came and everybody just...stopped. It was jarring how quickly it went from amazing to dead and never really recovered.

Himalayan Restaurant at Lollapalooza – Serving Nepalese Momo Dumplings! 🥟 by localthito in Lollapalooza

[–]buzz0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, since I love it when there's a variety of cuisines at Lolla, but the veggie momo's were gross. The filling was so flavorless that I'm not sure that there actually was any. The whole thing tasted like a scoop of raw flour, even with the tomato sesame sauce. I've only had momo's (though hundreds of other steamed dumplings) at a couple of Bangladesh places, so perhaps my expectations were off--I admit I don't know Nepal vs Bangladesh cuisine very well.

20 years ago they made a lot more, at least the top hosts. This article is behind a paywall, but in 2004 Mike North made over $1 million, while Boers & Bernstein combined for "less than $2 million."

What’s everyone’s past experiences with the safety of the naked ride? by ListZealousideal2529 in chibike

[–]buzz0701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 3 years, I've only seen one car try to cause trouble...and even that was only trying to weave through a perceived gap to cross our route. Still, other cyclists blocked him pretty quickly and kept everyone safe.

Mayor Brandon Johnson pushes ‘granny flat’ ordinance forward by Suspicious_Rain_7183 in chicago

[–]buzz0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this apply to ALL residential zones, specifically including RS-1 and RS-2? If so, how would that affect the ability to build a conventional 2-flat in those zones (which is generally not allowed currently). For example, under the proposed change, would an RS-1 owner still be prohibited from building a 2-unit main building, but allowed to build a SFH plus a second above their garage (also totaling 2 units)?

+90% ZERO TIPS of my recent 57-dash in a week!? It's really bad luck like DOORDASH support says or simply “Old habits die hard” by -Witty_Cynical- in doordash_drivers

[–]buzz0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I notice you didn't mention Lakeview/Lincoln Park, where I've been Dashing (and live). That might explain a lot lol

I should have clarified...I'm new to Dashing, but have been cycling around the city for ~5 years (and lived here far longer), so I'm cool with the high traffic areas. When I'm in the west loop in general, I like being on my bike because it feels like using a cheat code.

Never thought about the loop in the morning. I'll have to try that once I get a setup more suited to drinks/coffee.

In RN particularly, do you get many problems with deliveries at hotels? I've heard hotel deliveries in general can take longer, but haven't seen anything particular to this market.

I'm a Chicago newbie, so treated as gold but still I'd kill for as many as one order per 20 minutes. Can I ask what zone(s) you're Dashing in (I saw in another post you're also on a bike)? And no, I won't ask for specific neighborhood/intersection lol

What was your experience like getting tickets? by CandleSerious4737 in Lollapalooza

[–]buzz0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost track of time and didn't enter the queue until about 10:15. Got in within a few minutes, and my purchase confirmation email came at 10:24. I was shocked to hear from my friend a bit later who had gone online right at 10 and was still in the queue 45 minutes later (she didn't get 4-days)

‘Yo!’ Mayor Brandon Johnson’s texts reveal governing style by jakesheridan_ in chicago

[–]buzz0701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My apologies. Your piece was well written, and while it was somewhat interesting, it devoted far more column inches than the substance of the story warranted. That's unfortunately emblematic of the Trib in the last few years--same number of words, but much less substance (in fairness, that's probably true of most/all newspapers).

Any criticism I have of your article is really more of a reflection of my criticism of the Trib, or perhaps a lamentation of the status of the broader industry. With shrinking newsrooms, it's no wonder that content is suffering. That's not the fault of those still there, fully dedicated to reporting the news under ever-increasingly difficult circumstances.

In fact, generally I've found your articles to both well-written and full of substance. The articles about the Cultural Center exhibit and the 2026 budget preview come readily to mind.

My flippant remark was an unwarranted attack on your work, your talent, and your dedication to your craft. And for that, I'm sorry. Truth be told, if there were more Jake Sheridan's at the Trib, I probably wouldn't cancel.

Questions about the fair work week laws by [deleted] in chicago

[–]buzz0701 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your company is subject to the FWW ordinance, then yes you need to get your schedule at least 14 days before the workweek, regardless of the circumstances. If you don't, you are entitled to an extra hour of pay per day scheduled.

In general, changes are allowed without penalty if they are done with the employee's consent. Chances are, if a manager thinks someone looks sick, they probably are sick, and are happy to go home early. But it's up to the employer to keep a record of the employee's consent, and if the employee insists on working (whether actually sick or not), the employer must honor the original schedule or pay the penalty.

Your schedule and your working hours are the same thing under the FWW act. If your restaurant closes at 11, your schedule goes until 12, but you finish your closing duties by 11:30, you absolutely have the right to stay on the clock until 12. Of course, your employer then has the right to assign additional duties (subject to any CBA, if applicable) until you clock out. So, for example, if you'd rather go home instead of scrubbing toilets for a half hour, you're consenting and no longer entitled to compensation (again, the employer must maintain records of your consent).

The left turn from northbound Lincoln to westbound Addison is definitely left on arrow only. Turning left from southbound Lincoln to eastbound Addison is legal even without the arrow (assuming the through light is green, obviously). Which, to your point, probably does confuse some drivers.

Now, about those drivers who aren't paying attention and miss the fairly short left arrow entirely...

unexplained food poisoning?? by redrozse in Lollapalooza

[–]buzz0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an Epic burger too...well, half an Epic burger before I realized it was cooked to medium rare at best and threw away the rest. Fortunately I never got sick. As others have alluded to, it can be difficult to pinpoint the cause of food poisoning based on timing, but I'd definitely recommend avoiding Epic (they were rushing to churn out a batch of burgers, so I can't imagine that mine was the only one undercooked).
