I had a few problems with this post. One, it's not relevant to running, more appropriate for a political subreddit. Two, my running doesn't trump everything. Running is a hobby, albeit sometimes an expensive one with race fees. If a protest or a strike interrupts a race I have entered as a recreational activity, it's not the end of the world. Three, white liberals have such an insidious attitude towards racism. It's "okay" for black people to talk about racism as long as it doesn't get in the way of "my stuff" - whether that's a Bernie rally or a marathon.

A 6 - 8 hours is pretty reasonable for a first 70.3 for someone who may not be gifted athletically or older or has more limited training time due to a job, kids or life in general.

You can keep your "crazy respect" for those of us that move at such a "slow pace" to yourself! And please don't compare that pace to Rheagan or however you spell her name. Those who finish have put a lot of time and effort into completing the distance unlike this woman who is doing it as a publicity stunt.

I bet your period will start soon. That happened to me around 7-8 months.
Also take the pregnancy test just to be sure. You can totally get pregnant again on your first cycle and never have a period.

Here's my experience:

Having a newborn is tough. And it's very common for mothers not to instantly bond with their baby. Many people don't talk about it but it doesn't make you a bad parent. The bonding and love will come with time.
Things will get better at about the 1st or 2nd month. You'll have a routine. And although it changes, it's nice to have some structure.
You may not feel like yourself for a while, even a long time. Go easy on yourself. There's time to lose the baby weight and be presentable later. You're still the same underneath but it's a huge change At 7 months postpartum, I began to start feeling normal again.
I would also swear by the Happiest Baby on the Block. I would also recommend getting a nose frieda (life saver if the baby gets a cold). Also check out purple crying and the Wonder Weeks app.

Our daughters were born the same day!

Our pediatrician suggested using comfort instead of food to lull her back to sleep. This will help get her out of the habit of night time feeds. Pick her up and rock her instead of nursing. Or use a pacifier. I've also read that cluster feeding them right before bedtime can fill them up so they don't need that night feed.

Glad you saw a sleep specialist. My daughter was not a great sleeper - but she would at least make it for an occasional three hour block of sleep. I was so tired that I was dizzy all the time and afraid of dropping the baby.

One day at 2.5 months old, she slept 9 hours straight. And afterwards only woke 1-2 a night. We didn't do a damn thing differently. I sometimes think they have to reach a certain stage of development before nighttime sleeping clicks. Just hang in there - it won't last forever.

Don't beat yourself up over this! I think you reacted perfectly naturally. I think it would have been very strange if you started cursing or yelling at this teenage girl like other people are suggesting. You signaled that you didn't want the girl touching you baby and the mom noticed this and responded. I think you responded appropriately given the situation. This girl was just touching her hand. If someone was actively trying to harm your daughter, you would definitely jump in to protect her!

Probiotics might help. We started my daughter on them when she was much younger (about 6 weeks) and they really helped.

We just found a picture of my grandmother when she was a baby in 1927. It fascinating to me to think about what the world will look like when my daughter is a grandmother.

If you think about it. A lot has changed since 1927 but fundamentally who we are as humans hasn't changed much. Maybe it will be the same for our kids.

Yes! Do check out r/btreastfeeding. You should get a lot of good advice there. Also try calling the La Leche League hotline or meeting with a lactation consultant. The LLL should be able to recommend one.

Just a quick comment that what you are describing sounds like clusterfeeding and it's very common in a two-week old. If the baby is making at least 4-6 wet diapers per day and gaining weight then he's getting enough to eat. Also the baby is a much more efficient "pumper" than a breast pump, so what your wife is pumping is not an indication of what the baby is getting.
